Just stopping by real fast before bed with some neato pictures. Went out to smoke and take the dog out for her nightly poop (which she NEVER does anymore because she's too excited by OMG MOTHS!!!!!!!!1111) and had to run back in and get my camera.

AHHHHH WE'RE UNDER ATTACK! )

lmao I was ready to take off if it started flying. It's just a moth but my instincts would take over (crappy instincts if you ask me, OMG A MOTH *flails wrists*) and I would flip out.

I have a video somewhere of another huge moth from when I was at the cabin the first fall I was dating Nate. It didn't have the wingspan of the luna moth, close but not quite, but it was meatier, like a small bird. It had injured itself or something and fell on the ground and was flying around behind a chest that was sitting on the patio. I took a bunch of pictures and a video.

Oh so beautiful. My favorite types of moths are the sphinx. I try to raise a batch of them every year. After working in a butterfly garden I never got over the whole find caterpillars and raise them thing.

I had a traumatic experience with that when I was young. :( We were raising some at school and I brought mine home, it emerged from its cocoon and was drying its wings on my hand, and its FIRST FLIGHT a bird swooped down and ate it. >_< I cried and cried.

I think that's pretty damn awesome. You should bring it inside. It will bring you good dreams.

I so love this site, http://www.whatsthatbug.com/ , it's full of awesome.

I do get creepy-crawly sensations when I look at the spiders and centipedes but over all? Pretty darn neat.

Ooh! Thank you. I have a love/hate relationship with bugs. If they don't touch me, I'm OK with them!

I'm ok with them so long as they're not in the house. Inside-the-house bugs get squashed. Outside bugs are pretty much left alone.
