Part 7:

Nino woke up to something squirming to his right. He refused to open his eyes, thinking that he was still at Jun’s house tied to the couch, and it was that very man who had raped him beside him.

But after awhile, when Nino’s finally regain perfect control of his senses, he realized that his hands weren’t tied above his head and that he was lying on something soft, presumably a mattress. Did someone hear him and come to his rescue? Or had Jun come to his senses and carried him to his bed? Nino chose the latter since there was definitely someone beside him.

Now he really didn’t dare to open his eyes, if it was really Jun beside him, how could he? All he could remember clearly of last night’s incident was that image before he blacked out. With that image in his head, Nino really couldn’t bare to see Jun.

He could try to escape while he had the chance, but he immediately halted that plan of his when he tried to sit up. Nino was forced to lie back down when his stomach yelled in protest. Great, so he was stuck.

Turning to his left so he wouldn’t see Jun, Nino opened his eyes, and realized that he wasn’t in Jun’s room. The room he was in was white and there was a ghostly looking curtain about a meter in front of him. If he wasn’t in Jun’s room, where was he?

Wanting to get more answers, Nino turned around, only to see an IV drip. He traced the tube and noticed that there was a line injected into his forearm. So he was in a hospital? More questions stared to flood his already confused head. What happened after he fainted? Who saved him?

Then, he remembered there was someone lying beside him. Fearing the unknown, Nino took his time to glance at the person beside him.

Thankfully, it was only Satoru, who seemed to have woken up due to Nino shifting around.

“Mommy? You’re awake!” smiled Satoru, rubbing his eyes before hugging Nino around the waist. Nino would have yelped in pain, but upon seeing Satoru, a smile appeared on his face, taking his mind of the protesting of his waist.

“What are you doing here?” asked Nino gently, ruffling the boy’s hair.

“Daddy said you were badly injured and I decided to stay with you in the hospital because the hospital is really scary,” explained Satoru, snuggling further into his chest. So it was Sho who saved him? Oh, the irony! Who would have thought the person who caused him to be violated would be the one who would rescue him?

“Mommy, why did you run away last night?” asked Satoru, looking up at him with large eyes, “I thought you were going to live with us,”

Nino really wanted to tell Satoru the truth, but could he bear to tell the kid what really happened? How could he tell the boy that his father was a terrible person who cheated on him? No matter how much Nino wanted to confide in the kid, he didn’t want to ruin his impression of how nice his father was. So, Nino decided to compromise.

“I saw him with some woman,” said Nino, hoping that Satoru wouldn’t understand what he was talking about.

“Do you mean Mad Cow?” asked the boy so innocently that Nino was pretty sure he had no clue what he had just said.

“Mad Cow?”

“Yup, that’s what daddy calls that lady at our house yesterday. Daddy told me she attacked him while he was sleeping, and he was trying to get her off him when Mommy came in,” smiled Satoru, “daddy said she was annoying and always wanted daddy to go out with her ever since I was…” he counted on his fingers, “two, but daddy always refused, he said his heart belong to Kazu. Can I watch TV?”

Nino nodded absentmindedly. Nino didn’t know if he should feel delighted or depressed. Sho really did like him, by why didn’t Sho chase after him? His attention was drawn away from that mindboggling question when he saw an image on the television screen as Satoru flipped through the channels, hoping to find the cartoon channel.

“Satoru, go back to the previous channel,” requested Nino, sitting up despite the pain.

When the image reappeared, Nino almost fainted from shock - it was Jun on the TV.

“It’s Uncle thick eyebrows!” yelled Satoru excitedly, pointing at the screen, but Nino’s mind was too busy trying to absorb the facts.

Right on the screen, in a striking font was ‘National Idol Matsumoto Jun found dead’. What?! There was no way that could be possible. Why would Jun be dead? How could it happen? Even though Jun had done something horrible to him, Nino didn’t want him to be dead!

His ears finally started working again after the shock, allowing him to listen to the caster giving viewers an insight to the story, “National Idol, Matsumoto Jun, was found dead at the base of Tokyo Tower this morning. It has been confirmed that he had jumped from the tower around 1pm early this morning. As to why the famous idol who had been leading a privileged life would want to commit suicide, police are still investigating. But, at the place where Matsumoto-san was assumed to jump off from, there was a post-it note together with a walkman, the CD of the singer, Ninomiya Kazunari’s latest single ‘Konseki’ in it. The note wasn’t addressed to anybody, but it read ‘I’m sorry’. The police have ruled out the possibility of him committing suicide due to love problems as assumed from the CD because his manager announced that Matsumoto-san wasn’t seeing anyone,”

“Mommy, what’s this word?” asked Satoru, pointing to the Kanji for ‘dead’. It was only then when Nino realized that Satoru was in the room with him. Hoping that the boy hadn’t realize what was going on, “It’s nothing, Satoru. Can you off the TV, please?”

The kid pouted, but complied anyway.

“I wonder what’s taking daddy so long,” sulked Satoru, climbing back onto the bed, “he left a long time ago to buy me ice-cream,”

Actually, Sho had returned to Nino’s ward a long time ago, except that he hadn’t the guts to open the door and face Nino. How could he after what he did?! Even though it really wasn’t his fault, Sho felt he was partly to blame for what happened. He ran a hand through his hair.

That lady, whose name he couldn’t even remember, had barged into his room while he was still asleep, and assaulted him. He didn’t even know how she got into his mansion in the first place! Unluckily for him, that crazy woman pounced on him while he was still asleep. And to make things worse, he was only in his boxers, probably because he had unknowingly stripped himself in his sleep due to Nino’s hotness. He didn’t know how, but he’s blaming his sleepy mind anyway, that woman managed to pin him onto his bed when he was obviously stronger than her. He had spent a good deal of time and energy pushing her off him. But sadly, that woman had her long lusty fingers grabbed tightly around his shoulders, so when he managed to push her off, all he did was really reverse their positions.

And that’s when Nino came in.

Sho lean back against the wall, hopeless. There was no way Nino would take him back, especially not after what Jun just did to him. Speaking of Jun, Sho couldn’t help but sigh at all the stupid choices he had made which led to this mess they were currently in. He had chosen to ignore his burning desire to have Nino. He had chosen to leave Nino without saying a word, and now, one of his friends was dead and the other in hospital.

Just then, he heard voices coming from inside the ward. One obviously belongs to his son and other Nino’s. The ice-cream he had bought was starting to melt in his hands, but Sho couldn’t bring himself to go in and hand his son’s requested food to him because he didn’t want to see Nino.

He was about to walk away when the ward door slid open. Sho was surprised when he saw the door sliding open on its own.

“Daddy!” cried a familiar voice.

Sho looked down and saw Satoru grinning up at him with his hands outstretched. So that was why he didn’t see anybody opening the door. Handing the ice-cream to his son, Sho picked him up and walked in the direction of the car park.

“Daddy, where are we going? Mommy is there!” he exclaimed, pointing at Nino’s ward.

“Nino doesn’t want to see me,” explained Sho softly, hugging his son tighter to him.

“No, mommy does want to see daddy!” cried Satoru, “Mommy likes daddy a lot. Mommy was really sad when mommy didn’t see daddy in the room,”

“Nino’s sad because of what happened to him,” Sho tried to explain to his son.

“No! I saw mommy look around the room and frowned because daddy wasn’t there,” replied Satoru, looking at Sho right in the eye, as if trying to intimidate him. Sho could only let out a small laugh as he realized that he and his son were equally stubborn when it comes to Nino.

Turning swiftly on his heel, Sho head back the way he came from. He had to settle things with Nino sooner or later, and his smartness told him to clear the mess between him and Nino asap or things will blown out of proportion.

“Nino,” greeted Sho once he entered the ward.

Sho really couldn’t blame Nino for ignoring him and looking elsewhere, all the sufferings which Nino had to go through was because of him.

Putting Satoru on the ground, Sho slowly walked up to the bed, his senses on the alert for flying pillows that might come his way. To his relief, none came flying his way on his journey. Once he got to the bedside, Sho sat himself on the edge of the bed, Nino still refusing to look at him. His brain started searching for words he could say to Nino, but nothing came to mind. It was beyond impossible for him to redeem himself, but Sho knew he had to try.

“Nino…I…” began Sho, but after those two words came out, the rest of it got stuck in his throat, forming a long word jam. Sho started to wonder how he managed to graduate from Keio and be the President of a huge company even though he can’t even speak properly under pressured situation.

Well, action speaks louder than words.

Flinging himself onto Nino, trying his best to not aggravate the pain in Nino’s abdomen, Sho wrapped himself around Nino’s chest and placed his head against Nino’s shoulder.

“I’m sorry,” Sho manage to utter after a long pause, “everything was a huge misunderstanding,”

Suddenly, Sho felt fingers threading through his hair.

“Nino?” Sho pushed himself away from Nino so that he could look at the smaller man.

Nino had his eyes fixed on him. Sho couldn’t tell if Nino was mad at him or had forgiven him as Nino’s eyes were expressionless. But before he could say something, Nino’s right hand came flying towards him. A loud smack sound echoed throughout the room as Sho’s head was forcefully rammed to one side.

Sho sat in that position, stunned that Nino had just slapped him. Does that mean that Nino hated him? But before he could walk away with his head hung in disappointment, Nino grabbed his tie and yanked him forward. Sho lurched forward, and he found his lips pressed so closely to Nino’s. Nino’s hands travelled from his tie to the back of his head, as Sho finally realized what was going on.

His domineering side taking over, Sho’s hand went to cup Nino’s face. Sho titled Nino’s head upwards so he could have a better leverage over Nino’s mouth. Moans escaped from the both of them, and they would have taken things to a higher level if someone didn’t climb onto the bed.

“Satoru?!” cried the both adults as they noticed that they had been making out in front of a kid.

“Does this mean that mommy and daddy are back together again?” asked the little boy so innocently that Sho and Nino could not help but chuckle.

Sho gave Nino a shy gaze, causing Nino to blush a very deep shade of red. But nonetheless, Nino nodded. Cheers erupted from the father and son, and anybody who walked past the ward would have thought there was a huge party going on inside.
