I hear it's Chinese origin... :D

i think wikipedia in english on "tanabata" explained it very well..
apparently, Tanabata for Japanese also carries another origin. It's blended. I mean, for the Chinese, Tanabata is pretty much strictly romance related. It's like the Chinese Valentine's Day. But for the Japanese, according what I read on wiki, it carries an additional meaning, so besides romance, you guys also wish for general well-being, a nice upcoming season/year, etc.
sounds right to you?

We know the romance of Hikoboshi-Massu and Orihime-Tegoshi dating once a year when it's sunny(Massu and Tegoshi are jokes), but aside from their romance, we simply wish and write down on the paper strip then hang on the bamboo grass as this song says. :D

So the Hikoboshi-Massu and Orihime-Tegoshi(eww) can't date!
It's sad that the official release date is the next day after tanabata.^^;
(Massu said in the Tanabata evening it would be available, haha)

I usually buy my CDs the day before, so I guess it all works out.
So now apparently, Z-san wants some more friends. To me, it sounds so... sad.
