I finally watched the Season 8 premier of Project Runway this evening. When I don't actually watch broadcast television, I tend to miss the notices. Oh, well. Lifetime.com makes all the episodes available, so it's fairly easy to catch up ( Read more... )

Ugh. I was very disappointed with the premiere. First of all, isn't this supposed to be a show for amateurs? Isn't the grand prize the money to start their own line? So why do all of the contestants already have one?

And then, I totally thought McKell's dress was the cutest thing on the runway. It didn't fit well, but what do you really expect when they have 5 hours to design something for a model they've never met. I don't know how they could justify sending McKell home because they didn't like the bag she chose all the while keeping the diva who made pants out of pants. Grr.

And! Why does it have to be 90 minutes now? Really?

I loved it when they were being introduced and a group of them was going, "My line is this-and-that." -- "Oh, well, I call my line jeff-jeffity-jeff." -- "And you? What do you call your line." -- "I don't have a name, because I don't have a line..." I just wanted him to add: "And because I'm not a pretentious schmuck."

I thought McKell's dress was cute, too. And like you said, sure it wasn't perfect, but there wasn't a perfect dress on that runway, and a lot of the contestants exhibited poorer taste and construction.

Also I'm glad they sent home Jason last Thursday. His attitude was getting old fast.
