PR - "And Sew It Begins"

I finally watched the Season 8 premier of Project Runway this evening. When I don't actually watch broadcast television, I tend to miss the notices. Oh, well. Lifetime.com makes all the episodes available, so it's fairly easy to catch up.

What nudged me was my YouTube subscription page. Tim Gunn did his habitual recap, and I didn't want to watch that before I'd watched the programme.

Sadly, I think I was more entertained by Tim's recap than the episode itself. I don't know. Nothing really grabbed my attention in a good way. A few things grabbed my attention in a bad way, and we're getting there.

SPOILERS ahead ...

Thoughts on the auf and those who stayed: I could sort of see their point in aufing McKell if there weren't others more deserving of it at this point in the game. She'd have been sent packing eventually, but maybe somebody else should have gone first.

And I kind of understand why they kept Casanova around. --And, yes, that's apparently his real last name. His first name is Carlos, but he's demanding that he go by "Casanova" on the show. He was practically born to be pretentious!-- He's a character, he brings the comic relief... Will he eat New Jork, or will New Jork eat him; or will New Jork take him, or will he take New Jork from the ballz??? Perhaps you have to have watched to appreciate this silliness. Beyond whether or not he is entertaining as a person, his dress was at least memorable enough to talk about. Even if it was really vulgar.

Jason ... not so much a great character. He has his "intimidating" bowler hat, but that only works if he's planning to go all out and heavily mascara one eye a la Alex in A Clockwork Orange. Otherwise-- *snore* The best part about his staying will be reading what the Project Rungay blog has to say about him. On top of being a bit dull, his garment consisted of making the model wear a kimono backwards and stapling it in places. For all that, it seems like anyone could be on Project Runway (provided they come with a magically rakish chapeau).
