Creating one's own non-computer game can be fun, but it's definitely hard to find guinea pigs eager players, especially once some have dealt with early versions that do not work so well. After a while I couldn't convince anyone to play my Pyramid game. ^^; (Then again, it was also around the time the Albion group discovered The Great Dalmuti; Pyramid couldn't compete with it.)
I tried Robo Rally a couple of times but couldn't get into it. It felt awfully slow for something that I felt should have moved quickly. Maybe it was just because we had no experienced players among us.
Yes, the 15-minus-face-value variation is interesting but not something to do without all one's faculties.
Congratulations on passing "Frozen Ray"! That was the first nine-footer that I passed. Is it yours as well?
PIU... *sigh* I wish I had an aptitude for electronics so I could cobble together my own CF control box. I can't enjoy it with the vinyl pad.
Basically anything where I can get dirty seems to make me happy. Why do I feel the need to warn

Creating one's own non-computer game can be fun [...] When you tried yours, did you do any research first? I notice that I've started mentally categorizing games I've played, along with what I've liked or not liked about them, as well as what other people have thought. I've thought about doing more research into game characteristics before I try putting something together.
As for guinea pigs, I am fortunate in that at ROBA there seem to be many people who are looking for new games, and are willing to give feedback. At some meetings, there have even been people there who have been beta testing games for a game company.
As for Robo Rally, having only played it once, I can't really say whether it was too slow or not. For the most part, I was able to go where I wanted to, at least until Sasha pushed me into the pit. All the same, it would have been nice to have had more than 5 instructions per program.
Congratulations on passing "Frozen Ray"! That was the first nine-footer that I passed. Is it yours as well?I believe so! I didn't
