Creating one's own non-computer game can be fun [...] When you tried yours, did you do any research first? I notice that I've started mentally categorizing games I've played, along with what I've liked or not liked about them, as well as what other people have thought. I've thought about doing more research into game characteristics before I try putting something together.
As for guinea pigs, I am fortunate in that at ROBA there seem to be many people who are looking for new games, and are willing to give feedback. At some meetings, there have even been people there who have been beta testing games for a game company.
As for Robo Rally, having only played it once, I can't really say whether it was too slow or not. For the most part, I was able to go where I wanted to, at least until Sasha pushed me into the pit. All the same, it would have been nice to have had more than 5 instructions per program.
Congratulations on passing "Frozen Ray"! That was the first nine-footer that I passed. Is it yours as well? I believe so! I didn't even realize it was a 9-footer until you pointed it out. I guess this was more of an accomplishment than I thought. ^_^
[WRT correlation between dirt & happiness] Why do I feel the need to warn Bryce? ;)
I think it may be too late. He's encountered me after one of my pottery classes. ;)
