Something New

I have learned something new about myself. When I don't get enough sleep, I am very grumpy in the morning and I get irritated if anyone wants to talk to me. Is this a personal failing, something I just need to know and work with, or something I should merely avoid by getting more sleep?

I wouldn't call this a personal failing. When one lacks sleep, one is not feeling as good as possible, and all sorts of biochemical things aren't up to snuff. It's no surprise one might be more cranky than usual. *hugs*

Thank you for the reassurance. ^_^ I've never thought of myself as a particularly cranky person, so I'm glad to have a way of thinking of it as something other than a character fault.

Ive been this way since I was little. If I havent gotten enough sleep and you leave me alone for about an hour after Ive gotten up, we're good. If you try to make me answer questions or have a conversation I can get very pissy.

Or if someone bounds around trying to speak to you in Japanese. ;)

This was at complete odds with the happy, bounding Japanese speaking morning person that I was dismayed and surprised. At least I'm not alone in the occasional morning / sleepless grumpiness!

I get grumpy when either a) I haven't eaten well and my blood sugar is low, b) when i don't enough sleep, or c) when I am ill. When all three occur, its just bad.

>_<

I haven't noticed any grumpiness in myself when ill, though I'm certainly not in good spirits when I have a migraine. Of course then it's less out of a sense of general crankiness that I seek solitude, and more because the light and sound cause more pain than I'm accustomed to.
