[Do you know how many American traditions for Christmas time were originally German? Like Christmas Trees and Tinsel and certain Christmas carols. Mistletoe is Scandinavian though, I'm not claiming that. Anyway. Enough about traditions.

I thought that it was always sung in English!

It was written by an Austrian in the 1800s.
