This weekend Tom and I watched Take the Lead (2006), starring Antonio Banderas and Alfre Woodard. At first it seemed like a number of other "nice white guy takes on rough bunch of teenagers" sort of movie, but this one has some very nice twists. Have you seen Queen Sized? It's about an overweight teenager who is nominated for Homecoming Queen as a nasty joke and decides to turn it around by seriously running.

I ordered it for the library because it looks cute and I'm in favor of fat-positive (and generally self-esteem-positive) stuff for teens. I haven't had a chance to check it out myself, but it's gone out six times since mid-November.
