Chapter 10
Jaejoong was too tired to register anything but the lips on his own. A tongue gently swiped over his lip forcing them open and then probed into his mouth still forcefully. Finally breathing was required and the two pulled apart.
“Don’t run.” Jaejoong said quietly holding onto Changmin’s hand.
“I didn’t plan to. I just wanted to talk to you. Sorry, I didn’t mean to kiss you.” They let go of each other, and Changmin wiped his mouth with his sleeve. “And I never meant to say those things to you or act that way. I really am sorry, and I never apologise.” Changmin smiled a little bit hoping that it would work.
“You never apologise?” Jaejoong raised an eyebrow elegantly. “Good for you. Come on in, it’s freezing out here.” Opening the door Jaejoong let them both inside the building and then taking the stairs until they reached the highest floor. Both were slightly out of breath from the exercise the stairs provided.
“Would you like anything to drink?” Jaejoong took a few steps into his kitchen and found a bottle of wine and two glasses without waiting for Changmin’s answer.
“I don’t drink. It’s not good for my skin.” Changmin said and rolled his eyes.
“One glass of wine won’t hurt you and if you won’t drink it, I will, because I really need the alcohol.” Pouring wine in both glasses Jaejoong handed one to Changmin and downed the glass.
“Jaejoong, what happened today?” Changmin asked as they both sat down on the couch with proper spacing between the two of them. Changmin placed his glass on the coffee table and it wasn’t long before Jaejoong picked it up and started drinking from it in a much slower pace.
“You pushed me, you kept pushing me and I finally gave in telling you something I’ve only told Yoochun, and then I kicked you out so I could call him. Changmin, promise me you don’t tell anyone.” It was freaky how much calmer he was now, but he couldn’t find himself not being happy now that he wasn’t having space between himself and Yoochun.
“I’m so sorry. I never meant to.” Changmin glanced at his wine glass in Jaejoong’s hand and then shrugged. “But I think I understand. Can I ask you something?”
“Sure.” Jaejoong leaned back. “You know most things now anyway.”
“Why did you do it? Why haven’t your sisters forgiven you? I mean it’s been years, hasn’t it? And your sister’s fiancé was just as much as fault. I mean wasn’t he much older than you? And why does your mum only check in on you every once in a while? I mean your thing with your dad is just between him and your mum, so it can’t be it.” Changmin moved a little closer hesitant to touch Jaejoong, but he found that he really wanted to.
“Well.” Jaejoong stopped talking and suddenly looked nervous. “It had already started a while before I slept with my sister’s ex. I had bought home a boyfriend to introduce to my parents. My mum and six of the sisters were disgusted by it. My mum only calls me once in a while, because she’s my mum and still loves me on some weird level, but they all stopped talking to me the moment I brought home a boyfriend.”
“Are you insane? You told your family you’re gay?” Changmin widened his eyes.
“No I told them I liked both. I just happened to have a boyfriend at that time.” Jaejoong said smiling a bit at the memory. His first and only boyfriend.
“You had a boyfriend?” Changmin was surprised and started laughing. “One that meant you didn’t sleep with Yoochun and one that you actually liked?” Changmin rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, I had a boyfriend. They weren’t pleased. It didn’t even work with the boyfriend. We weren’t really that good together. I introduced him to his wife.” Jaejoong smiled a little to himself.
“You introduced Yunho to his wife too. You’re quite the matchmaker.” Changmin smiled brightly the mood a lot brighter suddenly.
“You’re a smart kid. I’ll let you figure it out by yourself.” Jaejoong sipped from Changmin’s wine putting the glass back on the coffee table in case Changmin decided to change his mind.
“You.” He had wide eyes. “You and Yunho were not just sex? You were something more?” He was surprised to learn that.
“Well no not exactly that much more. We were young, first year of university and liked sex, so why not like it together?” Jaejoong said shrugging. “It wasn’t a real relationship though.”
“We met, figured out it would be fun to have sex and we were young and innocent. The only other guy I’d been with was Yoochun, so it just suddenly turned to become a relationship. It was kind of nice. We weren’t in love, but I definitely had a crush on him. We would talk all night and smile at each other all the time. It was probably pretty sweet and innocent.” Jaejoong coughed a little. “And considering we were both 19 and definitely not innocent that’s a little weird.” They both started laughing.
“But it wasn’t a real relationship.” Jaejoong repeated.
“Yeah, so you family didn’t like you. Then what happened?”
“Well then my sister brought home her fiancé some weeks later - yeah that’s how long my relationship with Yunho lasted - and I got so mad. He was accepted and perfect. And so I tried to seduce him. It worked.” Jaejoong said bitterly. “The sister who was engaged to him was the one who found us. I haven’t seen her since that day. I haven’t been invited to any of my sisters’ weddings.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah. I didn’t have a real relationship after Yunho though. And he wasn’t even a real relationship.” Jaejoong shrugged.
“Yeah. That’s because you sleep around. You sleep with your best friend. You don’t have a line between being in a relationship and just being friends with someone.” Changmin said quietly. He didn’t mean to make Jaejoong angry and oddly enough that didn’t happen.
“There is a line. There’s a huge difference. When I sleep with Yoochun it’s just about getting off.” Jaejoong shrugged at the whole wording of his sentence. “We know where to touch each other, how to touch and what exactly to say to get each other to the edge and then just let go. There’s no teasing, no loving words, and we just have sex. It’s quick, it’s good and it’s nice, but it’s not the same.” Jaejoong tried explaining it.
“It’s just comfort. And when I have a one night stand it’s even more just about getting off and the excitement there is when it’s a stranger.” Jaejoong said quietly. But it’s not intimate. This talk with you,” twisting his head towrds Changmin he smiled, “this talk is far more intimate, than any sex I’ve ever had.”
“It is?” Changmin’s breath was hitched in his throat, and they looked each other in the eyes.
Jaejoong couldn’t help but get lost. The blackness of the deep eyes in front of him was drowning him and all he could do was lean a little bit closer. He had never been this intimate with anyone. Sharing a bed with someone, sharing his body with someone, was not the same as being intimate with someone. But sharing your whole life story with someone. Jaejoong sighed as he leaned a little bit closer.
“It is.” He whispered the words softly.
Changmin leaned closer too. Just a little bit.
“No running.” Jaejoong warned.
“I won’t.” Changmin promised and their lips met.
This kiss was nothing like the other kisses they’d shared. This wasn’t angry. This wasn’t filled with resentment. It wasn’t driven by a moment of incontrollable lust. It was the first kiss between two people who were going off from a rocky start. It tasted sweeter than anything Jaejoong had ever tasted and his whole world was just coming together in one big mess, but he couldn’t even see it. His eyes closed as their lips moved against each other and after a few seconds Changmin’s tongue was softly sweeping over Jaejoong’s bottom lip seeking entrance.
Their kiss deepened, and Jaejoong shifted closer his hands finding Changmin’s legs as he ran a hand up and down the thighs. He sighed a little into the model’s mouth enjoying the to feel the muscled thighs under his touch. Changmin’s hands found Jaejoong’s hair and pulled him closer until Jaejoong was straddling Changmin’s lap. The kiss grew more heated and they tried to get closer.
Changmin was pulling Jaejoong closer and closer, until finally the older of the two broke them apart.
“Chagnmin.” Jaejoong said the name breathlessly against the other’s soft skin.
“Yes?” Changmin didn’t move his mouth from Jaejoong’s when he spoke.
“Changmin stop.” Jaejoong pulled away and rested his forehead on Changmin’s shoulder closing his eyes, as he let out a deep breath.
“I promised I wouldn’t have sex with anyone for a month.” Jaejoong said smiling. “I hope you can forgive this slip-up on the kissing part. I’m sorry.” Jaejoong pulled away and sat down next to Changmin. “I hope you’ll still give me a chance.”
“What are you talking about? Of course I’ll give you chance. Just get back here and kiss me.” Changmin demanded, but Jaejoong shook his head.
“No. I don’t want to go back on my promise. But I think you should go home, because I only have a limited amount of self-control.” Jaejoong smiled and then started laughing.
“If that’s what you want?” Changmin rolled his eyes and got up from the sofa. “I’ll see you at work.” He got up and let himself out.
Jaejoong was left sitting on the sofa. In one day he had gone from being extremely turned on by the sight of Changmin in tight trousers to angry at the man for pushing all the right bottoms right to breaking down, making up with his best friend and the day had ended with him sitting on the sofa kissing a gorgeous, amazing, funny guy. And for some odd reason he knew that he wouldn’t have had it any other way. Sitting there with Changmin had been fun and sharing his story with him had, despite being incredibly hard, necessary and good for him.
He got up from the couch and started cleaning up before going to bed. And for the first time in years he was actually able to sleep in the bed alone. Maybe it was because he knew that he wasn’t alone. Maybe it was because he hadn’t slept so well for a whole week, and he was exhausted. Or maybe it was just because his heart felt lighter as he fluffed the pillows, and adjusted the blanket to make sure he was covered. He was safe. And he was okay. Even if he was alone.

Jaejoong was sitting in the front row of Yunho’s show. It was good. He saw some of the models he recognised walking down the runway. Standing with the rest of the crowd he joined in on the applause for Yunho. Little did the people around them know that it was probably the last show from Yunho alone. Next time Jaejoong would be standing next to him and the fashion line would be so much better.
“Yunho.” Jaejoong greeted with a smile patting Yunho’s back, “you did well.”
“Thank you Jaejoong. It is a rare thing to hear praise from you. How are you?” Yunho looked concerned as they spoke.
“I’m good.” Jaejoong actually smiled genuinely for the first time in weeks. “How about you? Eugene?”
“We’re both good. Jae, we needed to tell you something, but I think Eugene would kill me if I told you the news about the sex of the baby without her being there.” Yunho laughed and shook his head.
“Aw, you won’t tell me?” Jaejoong pouted and then his pout broke into a smile.
“I’m not allowed to, but by telling you this piece of information you’ll stop me if I’m about to tell you.” Yunho grinned and rolled his eyes. “On another note. I have written the proposal for you.”
“Yunho, you’re already married.” Jaejoong said grinning. It was nice to be able to grin again and actually be happy. He quickly schooled his features though.
“Jae, not that kind of proposal. But let’s not talk about it today. Today I’m going to mingle and be happy that my line was greeted with applauses, and I’ll go find my wife somewhere. I’ll see you later.” Yunho slapped Jaejoong’s back again and left.
~…~…~
Standing against the wall Jaejoong was looking at the party. It was only a few weeks since his own fashion show, but it felt like a lot of time had passed since then and observing the party Jaejoong couldn’t help the smile that crept on his face.
“Jaejoong, I didn’t know you’d be here.” A sarcastic voice was heard a little above Jaejoong’s head and he looked up at a smiling Changmin.
“You should smile more often. It suits you much better. I like your jacket.” Jaejoong complimented and rolled his eyes, as he gently tugged at the hem of the jacket pulling Changmin a bit closer.
“You would. You designed it.” Changmin rolled his eyes.
“I know. I would recognise my designs anywhere. It looks good on you.” Lifting his hand Jaejoong trailed a hand over the fabric of the blazer. The skin on his hands itched to be able to touch the skin beneath the clothes, but he settled for adjusting the jacket a little bit making sure it looked just the way it was supposed to look.
“Thank you Jaejoong.” Their eyes met and they held each other’s gaze for a few minutes merely looking at each other. Changmin had to take a deep breath and swallowed heavily. “I want to kiss you.”
Jaejoong took a step back, but he was trapped between the wall and Changmin. Looking up through heavy eyes he finally closed them.
“We can’t. It’s your fault.” Jaejoong said turning his head to look away from Changmin.
“I didn’t mean, you couldn’t kiss me.” Changmin said desperation evident in his voice.
“Changmin, please. I actually want to keep my promise to you. I want to prove to you that you can trust me.” Jaejoong said pulling a little bit away. “It’s your own deal.” He leaned up and kissed Changmin’s cheek softly. “But I’ll spend a whole day kissing you, when my month is up.”
“You better.” Changmin’s stare hardened. “I wanted to tell you something.”
“Yes?” Jaejoong raised an eyebrow and waited for Changmin to start talking.
“Not here. Let’s go outside for a bit.” Changmin suggested and they went outside to sit on some steps.
“What did you want to tell me?” Jaejoong asked curious about the whole thing, but he couldn’t help but smile.
“You told me about your life. I guess it’s my turn now.” Changmin fidgeted with his hands nervously not sure what to do or say in this situation.
Jaejoong reached over and took the other’s hand lacing their fingers together as he rested them on Changmin’s thigh letting his thumb run in random patterns over the other’s hand.
“I want you so much. I want you, but I couldn’t trust you. I wanted to trust you, because,” Changmin took a deep breath and blushed crimson as he spoke.
“Go on.” Jaejoong gently encouraged getting concerned about what was going to be said between the two. They somehow always ended up pissing off each other, and he didn’t want that to happen right now. He would rather they stopped fighting and did something else.
“I’m a virgin.” Changmin finally said looking away.
Jaejoong started laughing. “Are you serious?” Though when Changmin didn’t look like someone who was about to yell ‘got you’ his laughter stopped. “Sorry.” He quickly mumbled.
“This is why I don’t tell people.” Changmin was still looking away and not willing to meet Jaejoong’s eyes as they were speaking. He didn’t even oblige to the hand on his chin turning his head, but finally allowed it meeting Jaejoong’s eyes.
“There’s nothing embarrassing about it! Better a virgin than a whore”
Changmin scrawled. “Don’t call yourself that.”
“Fine fine. But how can you still be a virgin? You’re gorgeous, beautiful and actually a nice person.” If it hadn’t been hard for Jaejoong to find someone to sleep with, it had to be at least ten times easier for Changmin.
“I don’t know. I just wanted to wait a little. You know. Till I knew it’d be right. But then I saw you, and you were there in my mind from the first time I saw you, and I had no idea what to do with it. I mean what if I do it wrong?” Changmin asked embarrassed about this conversation. “And you’ve been with so many, and I just didn’t want to be a disappointment, and I want to trust you to know you wouldn’t just leave me behind or laugh at me behind my back.”
Jaejoong smiled softly and leaned in to kiss the soft lips in front of him. “I’m hereby changing the rules.” Jaejoong said firmly, “we can kiss all we want, but no sex until you beg me.” Jaejoong ran his hand up and down Changmin’s thigh softly.
“Jaejoong.” Changmin blushed again and looked away.
“Oh and no looking away.” Once again Jaejoong leaned in and kissed Changmin’s lips. This time Changmin pulled in Jaejoong’s hair pulling his head closer until their lips were touching rougher than they had before. Tongues battled for dominance for a bit, but Changmin’s force soon won over Jaejoong’s. One of them moaned into the kiss and Jaejoong had to thank everything that they were in public.
As soon as the kiss had started, he had forgotten all about what was going on around him, and it wasn’t until Yunho and Eugene cleared their throats a few times he let go of the younger man and glared.
“Yes?” Jaejoong raised an eyebrow, though he kept a hand on Changmin’s thigh not really willing to let go.
“As I said before, we wanted to talk to you.” Yunho said with a court nod.
“Yes?” Jaejoong made no moves to get up or go back in inside, and when Changmin started to get up Jaejoong merely pushed him down.
“Jaejoong, I just wanted to tell you the sex of the baby and well, Yunho can’t be trusted, so I have to tell you now. Usually people don’t tell these kinds of things, but my dear husband is a blabbermouth, when he’s not supposed to say stuff. It’s a little girl.” Eugene was smiling brilliantly, and Jaejoong did get up and let go of Changmin only to hug his friend closely.
“Congratulations.” He smiled so brightly at her and hugged her tight and tears started flowing down her eyes. “Don’t cry Eugene. You’ll ruin your make-up.” He brushed her eyes gently wiping away the tears.
“Don’t mind me. I’m just hormonal. And I’m so happy to finally see you happy.” Pulling away from the hug Eugene took a closer look at Changmin. Jaejoong actually blushed. “You be good to him.” She smiled gently at the both of them.
“Yes of course. I wouldn’t dream of anything else.” Changmin dutifully got up from the stairs and shook hands first with Yunho and then with Eugene.
“Good, Jaejoong has told me a few things about you.” Eugene then continued and smiled at the both of them. “I do enjoy seeing him this happy. Come on Yunho, let’s go back inside and give the young ones a little bit of time to themselves.”
“Young ones? Eugene, I’m older than you.” Jaejoong called after her, but she merely waved her hand dismissively, as she was walking away with Yunho.
“She’s a bit.” Changmin didn’t know what to say so he just settled for not saying anything.
“She’s wonderful. I wouldn’t cross her if I were you.” Jaejoong said putting his arms around Changmin again leaning against the warm body. “She stepped up and became my sister, when my own abandoned me. I mean going from having eight sisters to having two suddenly was a lot to take in. So Eugene became a third sister to me.”
“Relax, I don’t plan on crossing her.” Changmin leaned in for another kiss. “Now, two get all the cheesiness out of this evening and please please, can we forget about this conversation as soon as we get inside?” Changmin didn’t wait for an answer, before he continued talking. “Can I take you on a date?” He blushed and looked away.
“Yes, but there’s no sex before you beg me.” Jaejoong reminded Changmin and leaned up to kiss him softly enjoying that he could just do that. He was allowed to do that and Changmin wouldn’t run away.
“I know. It’s a deal.”
Jaejoong didn’t know how long they just stood there hugging, but he knew he liked it. No matter what this between them should become he knew that right now the moment was all he could ever hope it to be.
