Well good news but bad news? I mean I'd love to have you here for days and days over Christmas.... but having you home for holidays is cool too.

Are they banning all Christmas time off?

Not banning, just giving to people who have not already had Xmas off before - Which, as most of 1st line are new, is almost everyone but me :-/
