Ben Urich had a long day ahead of him, after a long night in the office. Some days it felt like he was coming back to work after only just leaving

Something was going on at Time Square, they heard rumblings from where they were currently searching. Sooraya had long since been sent home. Jean-Paul however, has gone home long enough to change to his uniform and came back again.
When he entered the square, the man fell to his knees staring up and the tears flowed freely down his cheeks, the lords prayer coming almost instinctively to his lips.
"He is alive!" Jean-Paul shot up to Jay in a millisecond.
"Joshua, hold on, we will get you out of this." The tears still free flowing down his cheeks, not only did he feel responsible for this, but his heart broke. Jean-Paul was an abrasive son of a bitch, but he was also a teacher, and although he didn't show it often he cared deeply for every student in that school.
"You have too much to live for." He grabbed on to Jay, holding him up to take away the tension of the ropes on his arms and legs. Hoping and praying that someone would be there to cut those lines.
Cessily stared at the television- the gruesome scene reflecting off her horrified face.
She couldn't make a sound. She tried, but nothing came out. Oh God. What had they done to Jay? Oh God... SOORAYA!
She didn't even remember making the run from the living room to the other girl's room. She just ended up there, knocking at the door. "Sooraya? Are you in there? Something... something's happened," she managed to squeek out. If the girl didn't come to the door in the next few moments, she was going to melt and slide in under it.
She was in her room - in bed, actually - keeping to herself as she was wont to do in stressful situations. She'd returned home, prayed like it was going out of style, and then slept fitfully for a few hours.
Until Cessily was knocking at the door.
Sooraya stumbled out of bed, yawning, and opened the door a crack - just enough to see out of.
"Hi, Cess." The other girl did not look pleased. "What's going on?"
Please don't let it be about Jay. Not when she's looking that bothered...
Johnny came up the hallway behind Cessily, having been hanging out in the common area as well. He kept an extra foot behind her, not sure if 'Raya had her getup on yet or not. "Sooraya... I think you're gonna wanna sit down." He bit his lip, calling over Cessily's shoulder.
Kevin Ford stood off to a corner in the rec room trying his hardest to breathe.
The image on the screen...it was too much. It was way too much.
And this winged boy, this so called false angel...he was one of them. One of the X-Men.
Kevin closed his eyes, his head pounding. This is what these people went through. This what they battled everyday. And in the worst cases, this is what happened.
For a moment, any evil plotting that was going around at the back of Betsy Braddock's mind disappeared. Her eyes were frozen on the screen, and her mind was open, hearing the anguished cries and thoughts of everyone in the Mansion.

"What's wrong?"
The look in her eyes was wild, frantic. As though she did have an inkling.
As though she was begging them silently to please prove her wrong.

So much like the blood that was all over the screen.
Her mouth formed a thin, tight line, and her eyes flashed with horror and anger.
It didn't matter at this moment what the kid was. X-Men or anything else.
What mattered was that he was one of them.
And yet, she was willing to bet that the Hellfire Club would do nothing about this.

How did Kevin end up embroiled in all of this?

Julian?
Julian.
He furrows his brow, confused. "Uhm. Don't you guys know him? He's your teammate isn't he?"

Exactly what he was thinking at this moment was anyone's guess.

This was a bad time for all of them.
A terrible time.
One of her students...
And yet, at the back of her mind.
Well, wouldn't this be a fabulous time to attack?
