Many people don't visit the tourist locations when they live locally. Most of the people who visit the Statue of Liberty are visitors to New York City. Steve Rogers visits it often. But today, his visit came with an unexpected surprise...

Banter. Always good for a distraction.

Namor had been surfing the coast in attempt to keep his mind from dark thoughts. Instead, the quiet and the murk only calcified them. God he hated Liberty water, he almost gagged on it.

As he rumbles to himself he spots a flash from the surface. Then another. Vision accustomed to deep sea life pick out two combatants- one on the ground and the other in the air. Whoever was on the ground was playing defence, likely a hero. The other needed to be stopped.

A short dive and then he propels himself toward the surface. Bursting out over Liberty Island, a pinkish dart launches towards the aggressor.

Cap watches as the new Beetle goes down quickly in Namor's grip. It doesn't take long for Atlantean strength to make short work of the Beetle's armor.

"Namor! Thanks for the assistance, old friend," he calls up towards the flying mutant. He helps a civilian to his feet, making sure he was okay, then turns back to his friend. "An unexpected pleasure, to be sure."

"The honour is, as always, mine," Namor replies, holding the battered frame of the imposter Beetle by the scruff of the neck.

"Are there any casualties?"

"None, thanks to your timely arrival," Cap replies. "It's... good to see you, Namor."

He hasn't seen the Atlantean prince much since his fiancé was murdered. Making Namor a widow now three times over. And Cap doubts that it gets easier with experience.

"Are you doing alright?"

A short boat ride later, and Steve is in central park with two hot dogs.

"It won't kill you," he promises, handing the dog over. "I promise."

The meat is dubious enough, let alone the dubious red and yellow gloop that covers it. He took his hesitantly.

"Interesting," he winces as he chews, "So, we have done me. How are you?"

He shrugs. "Looking for the Skull and leading the Avengers takes up much of my time."

Steve doesn't want to confess something, which means he's going to ask harder.

"I was talking to the man behind the mask."
