Duty Calls On a Day Off
Many people don't visit the tourist locations when they live locally. Most of the people who visit the Statue of Liberty are visitors to New York City. Steve Rogers visits it often. But today, his visit came with an unexpected surprise...
"Surrender, Captain America!" the Beetle declares, flying overhead and blasting down at his opponent. "You cannot stand against the new, improved Beetle!"
"Impressive, mister," Cap replies, dodging out of the way and using his shield to protect a single scared bystander. "Did you pick up second hand villain dialogue when you picked up that second-hand suit?"
"Are you mocking me?" he demands, firing more blasts. "I improved this armor from Jenning's original plans! I am smarter than he ever was!"
"I doubt that," Cap replies, rolling out of the way again. "He gave it up. Besides..." he ads, deflecting another blast from another civilian, "...if you're so smart, why did you need to steal someone else's plans?"
Banter aside, Cap is starting to get worried. As long as this new Beetle remains blasting the way he has been, Cap is on the defensive, unable to even throw his shield so long as he needs it to protect the civilians.
"But the scheme is mine!" the Beetle retorts. "Who else could some up with a scheme so diabolical? With hostages held at the Statue of Liberty, the government will have no choice but to pay the ransom! Who else would have the genius? The underworld will tremble at the sight of the new Beetle!"
"Mister..." Cap replies, blocking another blast for yet another civilian, "...you're crazy!"
"Crazy, am I?" the Beetle retorts. "We shall see!"
And the blasts continue to rain down.
