All tied up and nowhere to go

Miguel grunted as the men dumped him onto the floor. He could do little more than grunt given the fact that not only were his hands, feet, legs, and arms tied, but his mouth was covered as well. He was surprised they didn't blindfold him, or wrap him up like a mummy ( Read more... )

Araña was bouncing over the rooftops, heading for the place Ted had told her that Miguel was being held.

Or at least, someone who looked like Araña.

Shapeshifters made for excellent bait.

In the meantime, Billy was in the process of teleporting everyone to a nearby location. When the Spider Society came chasing after who they thought was Arana, they'd find themselves on the receiving end of a butt kicking courtesy of the Young Avengers and Luke Cage.

"Look! There she is!"

Leaping as though they were in a Hong Kong action movie, several suited men hop up to the building to surround the figure they suspect is Araña.

"Welcome back, Hunter..." one grins.

That's it. Step right into the "spider's" web. Teddy shifted his weight into one of Araña's ready stances. His own usually capitalized on size and strength, hers were more acrobatic. He just hoped he wouldn't need to wall-crawl for this; there were some things that shape shifting just couldn't duplicate.

He also hoped the others were in position, or nearly so.

"Ooh, a surprise party, just what I always wanted."

"Miguel! Run!" a familiar voice whispers in his ear. "I'll hold them off!"

"Anya, you idiot, get out of here." Miguel whispered back harshly, struggling to his feet as he couldn't push himself up with his hands.

He didn't know what help she had but if she had stayed away and let them handle it, it would have been a much wiser decision.

The Wasps and the Spiders are showing no mercy... not to each other, and not to the heroes caught between them.

Bodies are falling on both sides rapidly as they fight to slaughter their opponents.

But they aren't done yet.

Magic surges over the fight as the Spiders and Wasps cast spell after spell, feeding from their respective totem spirits to strike out at their enemies.

Overhead, the clouds take ominous shapes -- one begins to look like a spider, while the other begins to resemble a wasp.

Hulkling is more effective on the ground right now than he is in the air, so he's not looking up quite as much as he probably should. Clearing a path and not getting zapped by any spells is taking up most of his focus at the moment. Some spell-casters do find themselves catching an enemy or an ally in the torso, but not nearly enough to knock everyone down.

Luckily, Teddy hasn't been shot by Nate again. Though it was more by virtue of staying out of Nate's line of fire than Nate holding back. Because Nate didn't appear to be holding back at all.

He was fully aware of the amount of energy being released, and could guess what would happen if it reached critical levels. So he was busy taking out as many of both the Spider and Wasp factions as quickly as possible.

Mr. Sanderson, president of WebCorp, holds back, warping reality through the life forces of the Spiders around him. This can end today.

All of it. WebCorp may have made a mistake, but the Wasps made one just as large. He can pull into the magic of the Hunter... of the Spider... and, powered by the life essence of every Spider here, he can wipe out every last Wasp once and for all.

"Nina!" he calls out. "Come here!"

Anya shoots Nina a glare while decking a Wasp. "Yeah, I'm not so big on listening to what you have to say right now."

"I didn't know. I probably should have, but I swear I didn't." He jabs an elbow into another Wasp. "But Sanderson's doing a big ritual, and if you're close by, he can use the Hunter's life force!" Another punch. "I swear, Anya, I didn't want to see you hurt!"

A leap that kicks a Wasp and a Spider back.

"No, you just... wanted to see them..." A punch to a Wasp's face. "...tear the Hunter out of me!"

Nina can give no reply.

"Yeah, I thought so."
