All tied up and nowhere to go

Jun 15, 2008 02:47

Miguel grunted as the men dumped him onto the floor. He could do little more than grunt given the fact that not only were his hands, feet, legs, and arms tied, but his mouth was covered as well. He was surprised they didn't blindfold him, or wrap him up like a mummy ( Read more... )

Araña was bouncing over the rooftops, heading for the place Ted had told her that Miguel was being held.

Or at least, someone who looked like Araña.

Shapeshifters made for excellent bait.

In the meantime, Billy was in the process of teleporting everyone to a nearby location. When the Spider Society came chasing after who they thought was Arana, they'd find themselves on the receiving end of a butt kicking courtesy of the Young Avengers and Luke Cage.

"Look! There she is!"

Leaping as though they were in a Hong Kong action movie, several suited men hop up to the building to surround the figure they suspect is Araña.

"Welcome back, Hunter..." one grins.

That's it. Step right into the "spider's" web. Teddy shifted his weight into one of Araña's ready stances. His own usually capitalized on size and strength, hers were more acrobatic. He just hoped he wouldn't need to wall-crawl for this; there were some things that shape shifting just couldn't duplicate.

He also hoped the others were in position, or nearly so.

"Ooh, a surprise party, just what I always wanted."

They leap towards her, moving in to grab her.

"Come on, girl... let's make this easy, shall we?"

Duck, dodge, move. Keep moving until he got to the place where the trap was to be sprung.

"'Easy'? Excuse me, I am not that kind of girl!"

"Get back here!"

And then they were in place.

And that's when they see him. Out of the corner of their eye.

A massive, well built black man.

"Next time, try E-Harmony. 27 points of compatability."

"It's a trap!" one of them shouts as they attempt to move to counter his arrival.

Then there's that smirk.

That "Sweet Christmas" kind of smirk.

"Not a trap...

...a Cage."

He charges at the nearest one, and punches him in such a way as to send him directly into his nearest compadre.

And 'Araña' was right behind him, shifting into something more comfortable -- not to mention larger, greener, and entirely too happy to play hacky-sack with some jerks who thought they had been hunting one of his friends.

Billy was hanging back for the moment. He was prepared to help with a lightning spell if need be, but for the moment, he needed to catch his breath. Teleporting groups took some energy and he wanted to be able to fight the magic users in the bunch later.

That's when several other figures, dressed in similar suits but all wearing simple black masks over their nose and jaw, appear abruptly, mixed all around them.

"They're working with the Wasps!" one of the Spider-warriors declares upon seeing the new arrivals.

The Spider-warriors that had been chasing Teddy turn to face the Wasps... and the Wasps leap into the Spiders, battling each other with a lethal ferocity.

And some of both sides turn on the Young Avengers and their mentor.

"Not good." Cage said. If this was happening up here.

He dove right in to the mass. His unbreakable skin allowed him to take more hits than most, and in the mass of humanity his plan was to let some of them hit each other while they tried to hit him.

He then looked over to Wiccan. "Make with the electric. I can take it." Translation, hit them all and don't worry about the big black man in the middle.

Luke Cage might have been able to take it, but Hulkling wasn't sure that he could. And this wasn't exactly the best place to test that out.

He moved out of the way, nabbing men in suits and bouncing them against walls -- and each other -- to put as many of them down as possible without Wiccan's intervention.

Wiccan waited until Hulkling was out of the way. He believed Luke Cage when he said that he could handle it, but he didn't want to hit anyone on his side who couldn't.

Once he was sure that his boyfriend and teammate wouldn't get caught in the line of fire, lightning came down from the sky in a big burst.
