"Wha? Oh! Hey." He waved distractedly. Why wasn't he sitting in the library again? There was a question asked, too. Maybe he should answer it.

He ran a hand through his hair. He tried to sound like his was doing okay, but it came out a little flat. "I'm fine. I just haven't been sleeping well."

Well, this time she'd been ditched before she could put in the attempt. No. Josh wouldn't ditch her. He probably just got caught up with something, or... Well, if he wasn't feeling well, he shouldn't show up to wrack his brains over school. He ought to be resting, or drinking liquids, or... Something.
Half an hour, and she packed up her things and headed for the boys' dorms. After a bout of timid asking-around, she was able to figure out which of the polished doors was supposedly Josh's. She knocked lightly, at first, as if afraid of getting caught, but then corrected the error and returned audibly, knock-knock, "Hey, Josh?"

"Yeah?" He pushed off his bed and padded over to the door. He opened it and smiled a little wanly. Josh was tired. But Laurie was always worth the effort.
