I had a beautiful hike yesterday afternoon at Harriman Park, at the time Kat was having her garden party for a dozen or so of her friends in our backyard. Kat was fine with me leaving, and Sally and Lizzy went to Manhattan to a Bastille Day (a day early!:) festival. So it was a good time to be out in the woods ( Read more... )

THAT, is most fantastic! I don't know. I always get so excited when I see something along the lines of deer, on account that it's something you don't often get a chance to partake it--unless it's sadly due to seeing a corpse at the side of the road.

(One of the best days I ever had, was this winter, when I was at an arboretum all by myself, and stumbled upon a family of deer grazing by the exit. I had to move slowly and slowly and more slow in my car, as not to spook them--they were only about twenty feet away from a major road.

At any rate, here's the picture, if you should like to see it: http://s144.photobucket.com/albums/r191/deadskie13/?action=view¤t=blanknotecardsinthepark152.jpg.)

That photo looks very nice, and they are about the same size as the deer I saw!

How nice to be one with nature!

A few weeks ago, a butterfly briefly landed on my lips and I was thrilled to receive a "kiss" from such a delicate creature. My friend joked that I shouldn't be so happy--we didn't know where it had been. Well, a little bit away, we saw another butterfly sitting on a pile of moose poo. Gak! She laughed, I gagged! (true story)
=D

Fortunately I did not see something like that! Perhaps it was good I was wearing insect repellent after all! :)
