Weekend

I went down to CaliFur this weekend.  Tracy R. offered to put me up at her place for a couple nights and pick me up at the train station.  Taking the Metrolink is always fun.  Probably the most interesting thing I saw was the old, bent-over black guy wearing nothing put a pair of red boxer shorts.  Although the guy screaming to himself outside of ( Read more... )

Those squeakers in the fursuits sound vastly annoying. -_-

Oh, gee. I just wonder which furry artist was selling porn at a Bronycon? Persistently? Someone incapable of purchasing a clue? Sure sounds familiar to me.

Honestly, that doesn't narrow it down much for me XD I can make a pretty good guess.

I've been well away from furry for 6 or 7 years now... but My first guess was his initials were S.K., S.M., or K.D.

K.D. isn't an artist, but is a pushy porn-peddler... S.K. isn't known for being pushy, but was the first one I thought of as selling porn at that con.... so it must have been S.M. Right?

Tracy does love her gardening! And I'm in total agreement with concerning the squeakers; at first I thought they were mildly interesting in a novelty fashion but it quickly turned into irritation because it's a one-note gag that gets repeated ad nauseam from one convention to the next.

I think I'm going to propose to the guys running our local Texas con (Furry Fiesta) that we just ban the things preemptively next year. They're annoying enough out in regular con-space when you can just walk away from them, but people who have to stay in one place all day and can't just walk away from them -- like dealers, or people in the artists' alley -- shouldn't have to be forced to listen to them.

I'm all in favor of that. As you point out it's the entrapped nature of being a dealer that really causes the problem for me. If I were only exposed to it in brief passing or if I voluntarily walked into a party where the squeakers were present that's one thing, but to just be sitting at my table and have to endure the "conversations" people have through the use of the squeakers... that's enough to make me reach for headphones or earplugs.

It was nice to get out of the house. It was nice to see a few folks. Hope it wasn't a complete waste of time. I feel myself gettimg more andmore distance from that group.

Have it on the word of someone who was there on staff that the artist in question wasn't trying to sell it from the lobby. He was told to remove all the adult material from his table, which he did, putting it either in his room or car. After that, a con staffer was buying some non-adult prints, and in a casual "let's check up on this" way, asked if he had any adult stuff. Of course, artist in question immediately said he did, and that he would gladly sell them to him from his car/room. Nope, sorry, wrong response, thanks for playing. They ejected him.

Hasbro is incredibly strict about no adult anything at their conventions. It is not a rule you want to break.

The person who told me about him being kicked out of the dealer's room 3 times (as well as the lobby sales) claimed he was there and saw it, but I guess at this point only the Shadow knows the truth...
