Weekend

I went down to CaliFur this weekend.  Tracy R. offered to put me up at her place for a couple nights and pick me up at the train station.  Taking the Metrolink is always fun.  Probably the most interesting thing I saw was the old, bent-over black guy wearing nothing put a pair of red boxer shorts.  Although the guy screaming to himself outside of Union Station was a close second.

Spent Friday night at her place, then we went down to the con after picking up Ruggels.  Had lunch w/Fred Patten and his sister, then spent most of the afternoon in the Dealer's Room bumming table space from Megan and Matt.  I made a little bit of money, which is always good.  Didn't buy anything.  One really annoying phenom that's become common are the use of 'squeakers' in fursuits.  All it takes is a handful of people wandering around the dealer's room squeaking at everything and everyone to make things miserable for everybody.  Eventually people complained to the dealer's room lead, and he banned the use of squeakers in the dealer's room.  Applause broke out when that happened.  I guess everyone found them annoying except the people using them.

One funny bit of news I heard there was a furry artist we all know and love (take a wild guess who) was forcibly removed from Brony con LA (My Little Pony fan convention) for selling pornography.  The con had a stated PG rating.  After being repeatedly driven out of the dealer's room, he tried selling the stuff in the lobby of the hotel, which was packed with families going to and from Disneyland.  Eventually he was removed from the premises altogether.

After the con everyone (me, Tracy, Ruggels, Zrath, Megan and Matt)  went to some Persian restaurant in Orange.  No, I didn't eat there, but i was along for the ride.  Overall a very full day of socializing.  Sunday Tracy drove me back and we (mostly she) worked very hard to get the side yard into shape.  That was quite a task, but it came out very nice!  So overall quite a busy weekend.
