I don't mind spending more than $20 on someone when it's from the heart and I can back that up with my pocketbook. When it's not, though, ick. The problem I have is that I see about 10 things that someone near and dear to me would be over the moon about, and I have no sense of restraint. And then I have a hard time picking gifts for people I don't know like that, unless something comes out and smacks me.
