Veronica so owed Piper.

Her BFF had cooked an amazing dinner of roast beef and yorkshire pudding upon Veronica's request after Archie mentioned craving it the other night at Caritas.

The food was warming in Veronica's oven, the table was set and she was waiting for Archie.

Archie took a sip of his wine and noticed that Veronica was drinking water instead.

"It really is a good wine. Why aren't you having yours?"

"I'm sorry that our nice dinner ended up being so serious," she apologized. "I have no idea what possessed me to tell you all those things tonight."

Archie got up and went to stand behind Veronica's chair, reaching out to rub her shoulders. "And I have no idea why I told you so much of what I did. It has, nevertheless, been a wonderful dinner."

"Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it," Veronica said, sighing and starting to relax slightly.

"For what it's worth, nothing you told me tonight makes me feel any differently about us being together."

"And I can say the same." Archie leaned forward to drop a kiss on the top of her head. "Unexpected confessions or not, there's nothing you've said tonight that would drive me away. Although I admit I'd been holding back certain revelations of mine because I was sure they wouldn't be to your liking."

Veronica turned around in her chair and smiled at him. "Same here," she admitted. "I guess we were both being silly."

She stood up and leaned up for a real kiss.

Archie put his arms around her waist and pulled her close as he kissed her. "It's not that silly. You and I have seen and gone through far more than ought to be expected of most people our age -- most people not in Fandom, at least."
