Novel progress

A few weeks ago I pulled the last novel I wrote out of mothballs again. It's working title is Dark Caravan, and I never really trunked it, just that I've been focusing on short fiction for a few years. But the novel bug has gripped me again, so I've been rewriting/rekeying it from the beginning. Basically I'm tweaking and cutting at this point. The ( Read more... )

Marshall, I kid you not.

I just replied to the other Costello comment on my entry and am currently listening to this:

Now, how cool is that re: your current post?

And good deal, too, on the snippet.

Man, Berry, we haz synchronicity. Especially with EC's line:

"But you were up to your old tricks in in chapters four, five and six."

Seeing as I'm on Chapter Six at the moment! ;-)

I hadn't seen this video. You can always come up with videos of his I haven't seen. Coolness!

Tell you what, we certainly have found a bonding groove with the ol' guy, that's for sure.

Chapter Six! Exactly!

In honor of all this, I am going to post a come-all-whosoever-will entry for Elvis Costello lovers!

Titles are an absolute bitch. They're either there right from the beginning or they remain hidden from view for ever. I've spent weeks trying to come up with a title for chapter 16 of my current WIP. It's bugging the hell out of me and I'm cursing myself for giving each chapter a heading right now.

Nice excerpt btw.

Thanks for reading, Mike!

I usually don't have much problem coming up with titles for short stories. And while the title of a novel can be changed before publication, in my search for an agent it would help to have an eye-catching one. Perhaps I should just go with Gone with the Wind. ;-)

Wow, 5k in a day? That's killer output.

Thanks! I've seen some writers who do that many new words in a day. Not I! I'm really only rekeying and tightening. Still, the first 1k each day feels like it should've been new words. :-)
