Enough with the parking already

I understand the Pittsburgh Parking Chair. In a storm such as we have had, I will even respect it. That is why I parked in the spot without the chair. I waited for ten minutes while the jerk with the oxygen truck blocked the street and stared at me trying to go down the street (instead of moving or doing something) because he did not want to move ( Read more... )

I just don't drive in it, if I can help it. But apparently people own the street now. I can't argue that it's hard work digging your car out of a snowbank, but I can argue that if you're not parked in it anyway, you could be civil and let other people use it.

You want to keep a spot, you put a chair there. If they can't understand the rules, they don't get to reserve their spot. Simple!

No chair. I understand. This chick...not the spot's "owner." Just came out to yell at me. Because it is her god-given right to yell and educate the "ignorant" (that would be me). And it is this kind of idiot that commits this kind of idiocy.

Apparently they do that chair thing in Boston, too.

Definitely an example where New Yorkers are actually more civil than other urbanites (though it'd be nearly impossible to mark out one's territory in a place like NYC).

Anyway, I hear you -- neighbors are evil. Part of me wants to live on a mountaintop.

Dude, you'd have to walk 6 blocks with your chair to reserve that spot! Can you imagine!

I feel like there are more chairs on my street than cars, though. And I would not get stuck, thereby making the ENTIRE street useless, if I could just park. My new plan is to give all the prisoners and homeless people shovels.
