She let her eyes flicker over the leather bound cover, the raised lettering green with a speckle of glitter catching her eye. It was a new biography on Adalbert Waffling and as she'd already nearly worn all his own texts down to its bindings, she felt compelled to pick this one up. She had been fascinated on his ideas of magical theory. She was ( Read more... )

Zacharias didn't spend all that much time in book stores, to be honest. There was a weird amount of down time during shoots sometimes, though, between waiting on the women she posed with to have their hair resprayed after every pose and lighting to be moved. He actually managed to get a lot of reading done during those times.

Plus, he was narcissistic enough to actually enjoy seeing himself on the cover of things when they were actually on the shelves. That never got old.

He was rummaging through random magazines when there was a commotion. Books scattered along the floor, a pile of pages and bent bindings. With Marlow Linney looking suspiciously like she was trying to hide behind the now empty display stand.

Hand covering his face, he laughed, not able to fully get it under control by the time he crossed the aisles to look at her with bright, amused blue eyes. "Very graceful and smooth. Good job."

This was not what was meant to happen. She was supposed to duck behind the stand, take a moment to hover and spy, deduce exactly why he was here and then hide in the back corner until he'd gone. But instead, the books came crashing down around her and nearly the entire store was now looking in her general direction, the owner glaring at her in disdain.

And then there was Zacharias, the hand covering his face doing nothing to muffle his laughter.

She took a ginger step over a pile in front of her feet, offering him a sort of sheepish smile.

"I like to keep the sales associates on their toes," she said, wrinkling her nose. "That was completely on purpose."

"Probably should't say that too loud," Zacharias jerked a thumb toward the owner - completely giving up hiding his grin.

"You're probably three minutes from being full on banned. A professor. Banned from a book store." He clicked his tongue a few times against the roof of his mouth.

She flushed a proper shade of pink now as she rummaged in her coat pocket for her wand. All she wanted to do was dispose of herself quietly and she'd ended up making a bloody mess. She aimed her wand at the books on the floor, watching with a steady eye as they rose up and began to stack themselves.

"I should probably go-" she said, nodding her head at the owner, offering him an apologetic glance. "Yeah- I'm definitely not coming back here for a long time-"
