Spread too thin on the interwebs these days

I still wish all my Twitter and Tumblr peeps were on LJ. It's a far superior platform/interface/whatever-you-call-it which is dying, dying, dying. I keep saying it because it continues to be true. We fear change ( Read more... )

Yeah, why do people think she's great? Ok, so she does some dadadadadagagagagaga stuff in the beginning of each song and dresses weird. But her voice is not interesting and neither are her songs. zzzz.

People still talk about "Mean Girls"? Huh. Didn't think that was a classic, even of the teen genre.

The Olympics: I think I have every opinion under the sun. I'm excited about some of the free events and displays, but I'm so crowd-phobic that I don't know if I can go to much/anything. I'm disgusted about the amount of money that's been spent. I'm annoyed about the amount of disruption involved, especially to my job. I'm excited about all the tourists. I just don't know... I wish that Vancouver had never bid on the Olympics, but I guess we've got to get what we can out of it now.

I was just thinking about this this morning, and I'm pretty much of the exact same opinion. It seems like a lot of people on the left are kind of knee-jerk about hating the Olympics, even though they haven't thought out their reasons for disliking it. I also dislike the amount of money that's been spent, and the disruption, but I don't full-out hate everything about it. And I agree the tourists will be cool.

Also: I think "Mean Girls" is a thing among people in their early to mid 20's. It came out when we were in university, so it passed us by. The demographic on Tumblr seems to be generally younger.
