I finished reading The Diamond Age. It was really good, save for the lack of an actual ending. Like I said to sainfoin_fields, Stephenson had everything leading in the right direction and then was like OH I'M TIRED OF WRITING THIS THING, I'LL JUST END IT HERE.

He's still awesome enough that I'm getting hooked on him, though. I started reading Quicksilver ( Read more... )

Good post!! Really good. I totally agree about the linguistics in Snow Crash. And you're right -- he takes a bunch of stuff you know is true and then adds that isn't true but very well could be, and then comes to a conclusion with the mixture of fake and real facts. "Reality is all fine and good, but wouldn't it be cool if it also had this thing in it? Because then everything would fit together like little puzzle pieces, and I really like it when that happens!"

Fake order in the real universe. He's tricking us!
