I so appreciate that feedback! I am a bit rusty with my poetry and fiction writing. I'll admit this was a bit of a labor to churn out. I am so relieved to hear you sense a flow to it. I struggled!
Perfect poetry for a cold winters day. You really captured the chilly beauty of a frosty wood and I loved the metaphor of this woodland scene representing this woman hardening her heart to move forward. I loved the mention of her corporeal form too, the warmth of her as a contrast to all the cold around her and how many senses you hit, like the tang of blackberries. Really gorgeous work!
I am so glad that my intention to embody the reader into the pieces worked for you. I love when a piece of writing engages my other senses and love when I can give that to someone reading my words. Thank you for reading and offering that sweet feedback.
To me, this poem seems to speak of how beauty and strength hide in unexpected places, if you are willing to look instead of avoiding the less desirable or complaining (about the cold, etc).
