ETA I wrote this post in bits and pieces over the last couple of days, so it may not be entirely coherent. Also, in this post, I'm speaking entirely for myself.
By "minor" I was referring specifically to my number of publications and how well I am known (which is to say, not at all). Especially in comparison to many if not most SPFA members and certainly the others involved in this discussion.
The trike couldn't be fixed. I'm still very upset about this. My mother tried to distract me with crafts and jokes yesterday and I still kept thinking of my trike.
The new trike is on its way from California but has only reached Texas as of today since it couldn't actually be shipped out until Tuesday, thanks to the holiday weekend.
And this is marvelous. Because, oh god, do we need poetry. We need poetry because the world is full of cracks and broken sidewalks and terrorists and bombs and tsunamis and sudden fires and dead children and really, really awful shit. We need poetry because some people want to turn language into weapons, want to walk the edge of language and violence. We need poetry because the world is full of pain.
As a professor once said to me, "That almost sounds like worship."
(I was writing about Shakespeare at the time. I may or may not have gotten carried away. I don't think you did at all. You write the word "poetry" the way my secret soul sings it.)
I would like to say that this love of poetry was originally inspired by Shakespeare, but, actually, it was originally inspired by Dr. Seuss and the Madeleine books. Shakespeare took a bit more time to appreciate -- you'll note I didn't list him with Tolkien/Yeats although Shakespeare did spend a lot of time writing about ghosts and fairies.
This was the wonderful measured thoughtful probing response I was aiming for and missed in favour of belly-flopping into ragey caps-abuse. Thank you for it.

Though I think you are an awesome poet, not a minor one :)
Also, YES to self-care coming first, so much.
