I've been really enjoying the new season of Great British Bake Off. They seem to have course corrected from last year -- the technical challenges are properly challenging but not bizarre or obscure, and all the contestants seem pretty likable so far. My prediction for now is Jurgen and Giuseppe in the final, but I don't know who the third person will be. After the first episode, I thought Maggie looked pretty good, but then she totally melted down and is gone now. Chigs and Crystelle are both really good. Freya is clearly talented, but I don't know how far she can go with vegan bakes. Mad respect for her sticking with it, though. Amanda is probably the weakest of the remaining bunch, but nobody is really bad (now that Maggie's gone, anyway). The imprime cakes last week were soooo pretty. I want to see if I can make one now, for some appropriate special occasion.
