The freakiest thing happened today...

I opened the refrigerator to get out some red grapes and there was a black widow in the package! It was either an immature female or a male (because it was brown with yellow and red stripes on the back), but it had the red hourglass on the underside, haphazard web and was hanging upside down. What really freaks me out is that I had been putting

ugh. i've read about finding spiders in grape clusters, but never found one myself. and a poisonous one? i think it'd be a long time before i could bring myself to buy grapes again.

Immature females or males are not as dangerous as the full grown fully-black female. But still, the freaky factor is still there, especially in the middle of the night. I don't think I went to bed until 2am last night because I couldn't stop thinking about it. I did go down and check the refrigerator again too lol. On the bright side I've learned something new, and now know how to better identify the black widow. I'm also enjoying eating the grapes, they are absolutely amazingly good (especially with no spiders on them!)

ha. after seeing the spider, i would have grabbed the entire bag with a pair of tongs, dropped it into two or three more plastic bags, and taken it to the dumpster immediately.

or rather, i probably would have screamed for daniel and then had him do all of that :-)
