Between my recent infirmity and having a guest for Thanksgiving, I didn't get any painting done the past week, but I tried to make up for it today.

After painting swatches of both on a bottle cap and comparing them side to side, I've come to the conclusion that Citadel Boltgun Metal and Tamiya XF-56 Metallic Grey are pretty much the same color ( Read more... )

My autocannon barrels have shipped! ^_^  Soon I will be back to work on the heavy weapons squad. Meanwhile, I've been painting all the metal-colored bits on the Chosen with a coat of Tamiya X-10 Gunmetal. Some of it, like the guns and the standard-bearer's bannerpole, will remain that color. Another update on my Chaos Space Marines army. How I love having a digital camera handy. Maybe my dad will forget it's here? ^_-

In order to make painting easier, I plan to do the Chaos Space Marines in three pieces―head, right arm & weapon, and everything else. To line everything up, I temporarily affixed the marines' right arms to their torsos using blu-tack, then glued the bolters to the right hands. All that's left after this is the backpacks.
