Little Women Fic: A Night to Remember, Ch 6 (Jo/Laurie, NC-17)

Aug 28, 2009 00:02

I originally hadn't planned to put this chapter up this week though it's been done for a while, simply because the Little Women fandom has become a bit depopulated as of late and I thought it would be sad to end my first series for LW while few people are around. But after realizing this fall is going to be a very, very busy one for me-- graduate ( Read more... )

Thank you for being such a fantastic beta and such a consistent reader! Ed, I would flounder in fandom without your support. <3

Plus, I went and had me some delicious thai for lunch. Mmm... coconut soup, beef chili stir-fry AND an egg roll. I got spoiled so. ;)

AMAZING. Just amazing. I wasn't sure how this could be written but you have done great things with an awkward situation and made it loving and amusing and in keeping with the times. Did I mention sexy, yes sexy too! I love the "Mr. March" bits too, they are very in character with Jo and how she would see everything. Her voice, as a character, was so clear in this even though the perspective wasn't hers but she was there from the looking angry to the blindfolding to the actively taking part.

Very nicely done indeed.

Ah, thank you for those kind words! I basically fell in love with the idea of Jo and Laurie managing a potentially very awkward and even frightening scenario (because, let's face it, the Victorian era wasn't exactly known for its enlightened sexual practices) by being as witty and loving and brash as they are in every other situation together... and I'm glad you saw that coming out in them in this fic. Not to mention... Jo? Is not and will never be some swoony virgin. We'll leave the usual cliches to the other March girls, won't we? Jo blazes her own trail ( ... )

Darling, thank you for being such a wonderful reader, and for making me feel so welcome in the fandom from the first! I've been in it for almost-- gah-- half a year now. My god, time flies. I still feel like a complete and utter newbie. But you were my favorite author form the first and you're still reigning in the title. Thank you so much for enjoying this. ♥

OH HOT DAMN. My day just got quite a bit better.

Really, really, really, you have such a way of putting words together that I forget what I'm reading about and start concentrating on how you're saying it; so many phrases are beautiful and say what you need to in a way that is simultaneously inventive and exact, that I have to re-read them to enjoy it all over again.

That you still manage to keep your characters themselves while putting them in a situation I'm sure Ms. Alcott never envisioned is...amazing and I can only wish I had that good of a grasp on my characters. :)

Looking forward to more of your fabulous, hilarious, amazing writing, dear!!
*flails!*

I'm glad I could make your day a little brighter. Isn't it moving day as well for you? That must be stressful beyond ANYTHING. :O

I'm glad the prose style worked for you! Reading the first few chapters of this story made me wince at how overworked the style was, which was primarily because I found it incredibly difficult to adjust to the prose of Louisa May Alcott and the Victorian era, which can get descriptive to the point of being purple. But I think I've found out how to adjust to it by now and I'm still blushing from your praise. It's lovely to be told my writing is beautiful! ♥

And Jo and Laurie's awesomeness in any sort of situation, even the awkwardest ones possible, simply cannot be beat. Actually, given the hilarious antics they have in canon, I find that awkward situations are the best ones to throw Jo and Laurie into. Writing first-time sex between them was sill kind of torturous because of how damn Victorian Jo is but I'm pretty proud of the end results. And of course, your kind words as well ( ... )

I actually moved in Tuesday, which wasn't too bad. I'm a sophomore this year, so I kinda knew what I was doing...kinda. Now I'm just keeping myself from getting too bored and getting into trouble before classes start. ;) haha, I'm actually too much of a good girl to do get up to too much mischeif ( ... )

Ah, Poti, I'm glad you enjoyed this! Blending together passion, love and their sheer ability to let go of the world when they're with one another is exactly what I was aiming for in this fic... and I'm so grateful you thought I could achieve it! That's the highest praise possible for anyone who writes Jo/Laurie, truly. ♥

I'm just sad I couldn't get your piano fic done yet... although I'm pushing and pushing for it. I just can't quite find a way to write the sexy scenes without making it feel... repetitive. The curse of writing three sex scenes in the last two months, I suppose! But hopefully, part 2 and 3 will be done by the end of September. I'm going to push and shove until it's first priority. ♥
