FFXII Fic: The Lonely Death of Larsa Ferrinas Solidor

May 26, 2008 12:37

I know... I know. I usually don't post two fanfics (however short though they may be) two days in a row. But this is for the very special artemischan's very overdue birthday. She asked me for something featuring Gabranth and Larsa and I couldn't resist trying to put them in a configuration they've likely never been cast in before ( Read more... )

larsa, ffxii, fic, vayne, gabranth, drace

Very nicely done, dear. Depressing, and yet so damn poignant it kills me inside. ^_^;

Thanks so much! <3

::huggles::

I'm so happy you enjoyed it! I was worried it would be too depressing... but in a very weird sort of way, I even see the fic as being almost sweet. After all, Gabranth is like Dolores Claiborne. Everything he does for Larsa, he does only out of love.

(As opposed to his brother, where everything he does, he does out of spite. But anyhow...)

Of course I liked it! What kind of crazy person do you think I am? ^_~

You know, I can see it like that, too. Gabranth is just such a little sweetie, taking his duty so seriously. <3

Gabranth certainly is doing his best to be the finest servant he can be! And for sure, he'd end up committing ritual suicide himself if he was ever forced to kill Larsa. (Though unless Vayne went seriously mad, I don't think he'd ever give the order...)

Beautiful. You do so well with these sorts of configurations. So much with so little. The imagery of 2 is well put together after the feather-blanket.

(quick typo? - "Of a pair of a pair of gray eyes closed in prayer and gloved fingers brushing against the earth" - duplicated?)

Yay! I'm glad this cracked-out experiment in magical thinking and even more magical death actually worked. I was actually rather worried about it simply because the idea was out there and I hadn't written in this way in quite a while. It was like diving back into old skin that hadn't quite adjusted to my new size. ::sigh::

(And thank you for pointing out that silly little typo... shall edit now!)

I wish I could apologize but... can you imagine how thrilled I am to know this got a genuine emotional response? So I cannot bring myself to apologize at all. ;)

We need more fics like this. Absolutely amazing and depressing. Especially after watching a friend beat the game. :P

Heh... I know this is going to sound very, very strange but... I don't actually find this to be all that depressing. At least we know Larsa gets a painless death, even if he has to die at 13 due to his brother's growing madness? (Though I do wonder if Vayne has it in him to deliberately kill Lara.)

...Nah, never mind, I just undermined my own argument right now!

I understand where you're going with it. Still, kind of depressing, all the same. :P

Yes, the death of (relatively) innocent and blameless children always is. ::sigh:: The only saving grace is that this future is one that never had to occur at all.
