So, it's possible I'd pay a million interwebs dollars for this: 'a leading full time maths professor *and* the Napoleon of Crime? If I were to fanfic this, it would have to be a Teen Wolf crossover (at least in name) because Lydia Martin, y/y?' Moriarty!Lydia isn't something I've heard of before and it's flawless. In your head is it a crossover or a fusion? Because I can see Stiles as the most beautifully failtastic Sherlock (who spends an inordinate amount of time running about in Jeremy Brett circa Granada-Holmes disguises just because he can) with Watson!Scott romancing Mary!Allison in the background.

It could be either/or on the fusion front. I just cannot get over the idea that the modern woman Moriarty would have to be Lydia Martin, no questions asked. I do love the idea of Stiles as a faily Sherlock however.

The only reason I'm not writing any of these right now, is just because I've got a list of stuff in front that have words on them already. I've have to figure out exactly how she was balancing the two work lives and I honestly just haven't wanted to do that much research yet.

I am always up for suggestions though. ;)

I kind of fancy Lydia for Sherlock, she has just that level of impatient contemptuous superiority.

Josephine Tey, heee! Although I think that's the only one of hers I haven't read: I like the one with all the physical education students, locked together in a heaving stew of Sapphic frustration after a murder. Maybe it says something about the times, or about me. Brat Farrar, though, that was, um, strange. Good, but strange.

She does, doesn't she? *u* But if I were to write an original novel, I think I would end up subconciously using her as my model, just because I completely believe she could pull off the hiding in plain sight and winning the Fields Medal and being a hotshot crime lord with panache.

Josephine Tey is such a brilliant writer, isn't she. Though you're right, Brat Farrar is... strange. I do think you'd like the Daughter of Time if you picked it up -- newer scholarship has made some of her points a little flimsy, but I still really like the whole concept around historical myths.
