A stomach bug and intermittent Internet ;_; but they will not stop me!
I was previously going to talk about makeup today, but that will come in a couple of days. I wanted to get this PSA out first ^u^
wrisomifu is over... now forever. Everyone who needs a weekly Wednesday wriso like experience -- namely check ins and workshopping and whining -- come join us over at You Should Be Writing
ushobwri Moving right along: Things you would be writing if you had the time/capacity/energy/etc.
1) My (closer to canon) version of Sherlock Holmes. One of the things that gets me about all of the modern adaptations is just how much all of them miss the boat. I'm always especially interested in canon!Moriarty -- Professor Moriarty. What the heck kind of l33t organization skills does it take to be a leading full time maths professor *and* the Napoleon of Crime?
If I were to fanfic this, it would have to be a Teen Wolf crossover (at least in name) because Lydia Martin, y/y?
2) I and a friend of mine always used to talk about doing a 20s version of the Scarlet Letter, complete with illustrations. I still wistfully would like to do this, no matter that she's moved onto advertising. I just need to find someone else who'd like to help me.
3) Hard Sci Fi novel as an excuse for physics accurate space battle. I'm sorry, that is my pet peeve in every single work of space fiction ever. It no longer kicks me out of the novel/movie like it used to when I was a kid, but it still makes me judge certain movie directors and authors. *cough lens flare cough*
4) Speaking of hard sci fi, during the past year, I've come to really really really want to try to write a futuristic novel where the future humanity is mostly Pagan. You see, every time over the past year fellow writers have asked for help trying to make their world realistic and how to write from a polytheistic perspective, I've given them a bunch of advice based on my lived experiences/ websites that I would and fellow Pagans would use as a resource. Then that person would turn around and say, oh I'm actually having problems because I want that religion to [do X] and I can't write that without gagging myself a little.
...where do X is stuff like baby sacrifice and other such Chick Tract-ian actions. *facepalm*
And I finally just had enough. I started to wonder if anyone wrote their fantasy religion/allegory in a sympathetic fashion at all, you know? SO I WILL, THE END.
5) I've always wanted to write a historical novel on the premise that
The Daughter of Time is true. Or maybe some sort of remix of it? I dunno, I just have always loved that book and the idea and I want so many more words in that universe.
6) a minimalism graphic novel of the Great Gatsby (yes, I know I'm strange) I had to do a book cover critique of a novel once, and I did a line art and silver on white cover and I've always wanted to do the rest of the book.
7) a webcomic based in the common perception of Heaven, just because I'd like to draw angels and saints and shenanigans.
8) a semi-autobiographic novel. My grandmother always wanted me to write my autobiography and well... *sigh* I didn't actually want to because my family is so messed up. But my brother's friend
wrote his in such a way that I'd kinda like to do the same to my life.
