Poor poor Nate - he has a crush on his daycare teacher, Ms Donna, and she's married. He's mad at her but he still loves her, but he doesn't want to see her. No, nothing sick or sexual, he's just totally enamoured of her. She gave each of the kids an xmas present, and Nate LOVES his because she gave it to him.

He'll be OK, but he's really heart-broken right now.

I wonder, though, if your parents had laughed and told you it didn't mean anything, would you have turned out differently?

I don't really know that my parents knew. They probably did, my Mom was quite involved with the PTA and the school in general, but they never said anything to me about it.

You've probably figured this out already, but your parents know quite a lot more about you than you think they do. They just don't bother saying anything about it because it's either embarrassing (to you OR them), unnecessary, irrelevant, nosy, or even downright mean. Discretion is the better part of valour, and all that.
