Parent-Teacher Conferences and sensory problems

We drove back to Fargo last night. It was especially nice to come home Thursday because the younger son is now back in gymnastics. (Most parents take summer off from activites, we take winter.) There does seem to be a very high correlation between the SI and the giftedness. I'd love to be able to figure out what the connection is...

I don't know, but I think that giftedness is itself an oversensitivity. Noticing small things that people overlook, putting the pieces together faster...all that stuff happens because the brain is more sensitive to it's surrounding, works faster, and perhaps creates a stronger drive to interact with the environment. I guess I think of it as being a reflection of a person's constitution/composition, and the brain certainly seems to be part and parcel of it.

I'm totally jealous of those who seem to be gifted without all the negative side effects of the high sensitivities. Or maybe they still have them but find better ways to cope. I'm not sure. I sure wish there was an easy answer, though. Can't we just have the extra fire power without the kickback? :-D
