The trip has been pretty interesting so far. There was some protesting by Nick and Theresa when I wanted to spend my entire time in France in the Louvre, they actually made me leave and dragged me almost physically to some shops and a restaurant, but I think when all I did was sketch on the napkins they gave in. Besides this way they get to spend

*gazes at her reflection that moves along with the movement of her hand, speaks out loud, not realizing anyone is around*
How is it that my life doesn't feel so complicated when I sit here?

Maybe because it's a fairy spring?

What the hell?
*replays what he said*
No accent. You're a tourist. *tilts her head, fists still clenched* Fairy spring?
Reply
Sorry, didn't mean to startle you.
*Nods towards the spring*
It comes straight from the earth but it's warm, not cold. And the Tuatha de Danan were supposed to be around here. Which are sort of fairies but its kind of an over simplified name.

Maybe she is the reason I feel that sense of zen when I swim here.
*says softly, reaching out to brush her hand against his lightly*
I didn't mean to offend you. It was a bad joke. I never really believed Lancelot would betray Arthur. If anything, they would have shared the queen and only if the three of them had truly felt that kind of bond. Legends are rarely completely made from facts.

Yeah sorry, I get cranky about that. We're almost all as close as lovers, just without being that you know?
She's very calming so that could be.
*hand goes to his amulet*
Did you want to try and see her?
Reply
Sorry. Here I was ready to punch you when you snuck up on me and now I go and touch you when we really have no idea who each other are.
*nods her head*
I'd love to see her. Can you make her reveal herself, Lancelot? She is your mother after all.

*kneels near the water and lets the amulet touch it*
Mother.
*image of the lady shows in the reflection standing behind him but is only in the water*

*nods her head, grinning at his answer*
You're right. Modesty is overrated too. I want to swim.
*stands up and begins to strip off her clothes, sets her clothes on a dry area and looks over her shoulder at Lancelot*
Care to join me?
*dives into the water without waiting for an answer*

Um, I think I'll stay here.
*carefully avoiding looking at her*

Fair enough. If any people with cameras appear, I'm going to need you to ride to my rescue and treat me like a damsel in distress.
*swims up to the edge of the pond*
You always blush when girls skinny dip in front of you?
Reply
*still studiously not looking*
Just let me know when you're dressed ok? Meantime I'll watch for spectators.

*smiles*
Sometimes it's better to keep things a mystery, don't you think?
Reply
If we're keeping things a mystery what should I call you?

*shifts slightly, drawing her knees to her chest as she wraps her arms around them, relaxing as the fire warms her*

*he thinks about it for a minute while he adds some wood to the fire*
Elaine. Lady of Shalott Elaine.

You didn't scoff or give me the 'are you serious' look when I said I was waiting for a sign. Interesting. You believe in destiny and fate?

*watches the fire*
I basically threw a grenade into my life before running away to find you. I know there wouldn't be any bridges to take me back there, so now I just have to figure out where my next step will lead me.

I've kind of found the next step is just closing my eyes and moving. It's uncomfortable sometimes but I think it's working out.
