And wow, Kyoto is brutal. I think Yamanashi topped out about 33, and that was horrid enough on its own. *g*
And wow. I stayed up for my whole flight, too. Mostly 'cause I couldn't sleep because of turbulence, but I think I spent the whole next day staring off into space. People must have thought I was stoned.

Kyoto is pretty awful in the summer, but actually I think Nagasaki was even worse. There was no wind, not even a breeze, so sweat didn't even have a chance to evaporate. I was totally drenched, like, five minutes after going outside, and ugh, it was just disgusting feeling. I was also in Miyazaki, southern Kyushu, on this trip, and I thought that would be the worst, but at least there there was always a pretty strong breeze coming off the ocean. Just really bright sunshine, but the breeze made it seem not quite as humid.
Sleeping on the flight seemed like it should make sense, since the flight left at 11-something a.m. Japan time, and I got in around 9:30 p.m. UK time. So, my reasoning went, I should just stay up the whole time and crash as soon as I got home. But DAMN, 12 hours is a long flight. Still shorter, though, than the 14 or so hours it usually is flying from Japan to the US, I guess.
