Hundreds of hours of previously believed lost British drama broadcast between 1957 and 1970 has been found in WNET's archive collection at the Library of Congress.

According to this list of the recovered dramas, amongst these are the ITV/Rediffusion Play of the Week The Typewriter (1962) and Theatre 625's The Queen and the Welshman (1966), both ( Read more... )

There's another thing with Troughton on the list, too, I've discovered - The BBC's Twentieth Century Theatre's Insect Play.

(I know these are all plays that have been discovered, but I hope they've checked really hard to make sure they don't have any Doctor Who hidden away...)

I dread the copyright mess that's going to take a while to solve before any of these are available to the public, but maaaaaaaannn :D WANT. Why am I not a member of the BFI and why can't I go there to see all this stuff? Aaah.

Oh man, right now I'm just like EEEEEEEEE that these actually, you know, haven't been completely lost forever, but I do hope that they're able to re-air or release these at some point...

...like this Much Ado About Nothing that's got Derek Jacobi and Caroline John and Maggie Smith and omg.
