Two good quotes of the day

I love John Rogers (creator of Jaime Reyes and co-creator of Leverage) and the blog Kung Fu Monkey

And for those of you who have written in: I am indeed gratified by the unexpectedly large role Jaime Reyes as Blue Beetle has played in the new kid-friendly Batman animated hit. Or, less subtly, I am gratified by the role a character whose book has ( Read more... )

-- no one told me the Blue Beetle Guy was responsible for Leverage! Damn, I really am going to have to start watching that!

(Call your mom = Australopithecus is made of WIN and I'm going to have to remember that one, too. :D)

Yes, you should absolutely watch it! It shows, I think, a similar sense of humor and ability to create engaging characters :)

And OMG, I'm still giggling over "call your mom = australopithecus"...

Love that snarky remark about DC's...interesting...marketing plans and Batman: Brave & The Bold.

Yes, indeedy. Because I think you and I would agree that he was somewhat restrained and we could probably come up with stronger words to describe DC's plans...

It sounds like the mother of the octuplets is mentally ill at least according to her mother and the procedure play to her illness rather than addressed it and the care of the poor children.

The story gets weirder if you can believe this blog. The name she gave for the father of the babies? is the americanized version of her father's name.

The whole thing gets crazier and crazier. Gosh I feel for the 14 children. Really I do. However she wound up with the kids - IVF from a shady clinic, fertility drugs from the internet without medical supervision, or whatever - there are now 14 children under the age of 7 that need care, education, and a lifetime of support (I know my parents still give me a special emotional support no one else can). I hope the media covers the questions of care of the children and the mess more than 'oh look a human litter!'

The media is...sort of covering it, from what I can tell. But yes, I agree, I really feel badly for the kids. Poor things.

I also feel bad because this is going to cause a backlash against people who legitimately need fertility treatments. ::headdesk::

My mom would have had NO CLUE! ;)
Then again, there's worse things to call someone - neanderthal comes to mind ;) as it has a lot of connotative baggage that is almost impossible to separate from its actual meaning.

sorry about edit, bad spelling mistake

He doesn't mean you should call your mom an australopithecus (although, now that I think about it, that would be pretty funny too) but that using your cell phone to call mom means you should accept the fact of evolution and the previous existence of australopithecines :)
