Oh very well done -- I loved it! You've nailed the characters and given a wonderful insight into their relationship. I also find the situation an interesting inversion -- my expectation would be to have *Mara* telling *Luke* he couldn't save everyone. So I like what you've done here!

Thank you! I think at this stage in their lives, Luke would have already learnt the lesson many times over whereas Mara has never had to face that kind of failure and was one thing about being a Jedi she would have to learn the hard way. I thought it was a little different :)

He often did that, making a statement from his inaction, allowing her the power to make the decision, but forcing her to show her need, her desire for his comforting embrace.

it was a mutual understanding; the rest of her troubles unspoken, for he already knew them, and his comfort withheld, because she didn’t need it.

I particularly liked those lines. I can really see Luke doing exactly that, and the second line seems almost to summarize their relationship. A lot of people wouldn't really understand how Luke and Mara manage the balance they have, but it works beautifully for them. You show that well here. Nicely done. :)

Thank you :) I always saw Luke and Mara as the kind of couple that don't really *need* each other, but simply have the kind of relationship where they understand how to be together without compromising the others individuality.
