Wow! No, he's not a true Sith. Unlike Leia it seems. And I loved that Vader didn't break into his mind.
Shira's help is a nice twist! If it was Palpatine's final order to her I wonder about his reasons.

It stands to reason that if the Emperor would give Mara a last command, why not his other Hands? :D As for his reasons... well, I guess there's always the sequel!

I loved that Leia killed Palpatine. Vader is her father but he should be careful of a Sith Leia.

Yes, she makes for a dangerous Sith. We haven't yet seen what her real relationship with her father is like - is she truly loyal? Or will she betray him as she betrayed Luke? All this and more in the sequel! ;)

I cannot tell you exactly how satisfying this was to read. The ending was pitch-perfect. Far too many multi-chaptered fics end up fizzling out in the end, but yours didn't. You kept up full steam ahead, stringing out the mystery and suspense beautifully.
I love that Luke wanted to protect Mara, even at the risk to his own life. And that Mara carries her 'new hope' to Dagobah and Yoda.
This was a wonderful story and now that it's done, I'd like to rec it on crack_van next month, if that's okay with you. More people need to read this. :)

Thank you for the warm response. It's quite amazing how the ending came together for me as a I was writing it. About half way through the story, I started working on the ending because it was just clear where this had to go. I had originally hoped to leave it as a short story, but as things progressed, I realized there was so much more to tell. The ending is meant to imitate ESB - suddenly you're hit with this startling revelation, and then it's pretty much over. There has to be a sequel; there's no two ways about it. So I'm really glad that it worked and that it had such an impact on you!
