Folks, when we've added lj-like option, some users asked us to give descriptions for all available LJ-tags. I've promised to do it, but unfortunately I only got time to do it now. Hope I'm not too late and this will be useful for you.
So, with different LJ-tags you can:
Hide a portion of a post for friends page or journal's main page, or "hide under a cut"
... Text that will be hidden ... []
This tag hides a portion of the post from friend pages and journal's main page and adds a link that leads to the beginning of that portion. In other words, LJ-cut creates a "details" link in the announcement and hides full version until that link is clicked.
It's most often used to hide all photos in the post except for the first one - for example, in travel diaries or photo-reports. We also recommend to use it in long posts because it makes reading the journal or friends page much more comfortable.
Highlights:
- it can only be used in the posts;
- is automatically expanded on the post page;
- is automatically collapsed when a comments thread is opened.
Examples:
Hides all text after the tag and creates "Read More" link;
Hides all text after the tag and creates a link saying "All photos, 20Mb";
Hidden part of the post
Hides a portion of the post located between opening and closing tags and creates link saying "Details".
Mention a user or a community
username This is the correct way to link to a journal or a community because with this tag LiveJournal will automatically add all elements: userhead, link to profile, correct username and link to the journal, context menu and notes if they exist (only available to paid users).
The "title" parameter is used to replace username with a custom text.
Highlights:
- can be used in posts, comments, profile, S2 styles and private messages;
- if journal is renamed, its name is updated in all mentions automatically;
- no need for a closing tag.
Examples:
igrick -
igrick igrick -
igrick news -
news news -
news Add the Repost button
[ ... post text ... ]
Adds a button that creates a copy of the post in the reader's journal or, simply put, creates a repost button. The copy will contain a link to the original post and full text of the post or a portion of it selected by author. If author has
Pingback enabled, every repost will generate a comment containing a link to it.
Highlights:
- can only be used in posts;
- if a portion of the post is selected, the button will appear where the closing tag is placed;
- if no portion is specified, the button will appear where the opening tag is placed;
- If no portion is specified, every repost will contain Repost button of the original;
- not all tags can be reposted.
Examples:
Adds the Repost button to the post; whole post will be reposted;
Adds the Repost button with text "Share with friends"; whole post will be reposted;
Post starts... ...Main contents... ...Post ends
Adds the Repost button with text "Share" after Main contents and before the Post ends part; the button will repost Main contents part of the post;
Add sharing buttons for social networks
This tag adds sharing buttons for several social networks. Available social networks are listed below. Names for using within the tag are listed in brackets.
- "Recommend" for FaceBook (facebook or fb);
- "+1" for Google+ (google or go);
- "♥" for vKontakte (vkontakte or vk);
- "Tweet" for Twitter (twitter or tw);
- "+10 LJ tokens" for LiveJournal (livejournal or lj).
Highlights:
- can only be used in posts;
- will display buttons in order of names in the "buttons" parameter;
- will display buttons for all social networks available in author's region if no "buttons" parameter is provided (if new social networks are added after the entry was posted, list of buttons will be updated automatically);
- doesn't need closing tag.
Examples:
Will display all buttons available in author's region;
Will display Facebook button only regardless of author's region;
Will display two buttons: Google+'s "+1" and Facebook's "Recommend" in this exact order and regardless of author's region;
