Kiss today goodbye/And point me toward tomorrow (For Jack)

Elijah had spent the night in his study, in front of the fire, the ring anodized stake in his hands. Rebekah and Kol both wandered in a few times, his sister more openly fretful than his brother, but both of them clearly uncomfortable and uncertain ( Read more... )

Jack stepped forward when he spotted Elijah, away from the wall he'd been standing against, and held his hand out. "Are you ready to do this?" he asked, meeting Elijah's eyes.

He was concerned, he was still not sure how he felt about doing something this irreversable. It wasn't his decision, though. It was Elijah's, and he trusted Elijah to know what Elijah needed to do. So, not 'are you sure', just 'are you ready'.

Elijah smiled when he saw Jack, if a bit tiredly, and reached to take his hand. There wasn't a doubt in his mind about if what they were doing was a good idea. The weapon had to go. They'd spent too long in terror of its counterpart--all their lives, really.

None of them would feel safe until it was truly gone.

"Absolutely," he said with a nod.

He wrapped his hand around Elijah's, and used it to pull him in. "You should probably hold on with more than one hand, then. It's going to be a longer, rougher, trip."

Elijah should, and likely did know that from his last hop to the distant future. This was a bit further out, but shouldn't be hugely worse. Still worth, Jack figured, a reminder.

He ran through a mental checklist while he did it, making sure he had coordinates preset to get them back, after the hop up to watch the world burn, that retcon was there, that he had covered his bases in what he needed to forget.

Elijah moved to him without any protest, wrapping his arm around Jack tightly to make certain he had a good grip, and basically just for the physical reassurance. He was totally certain about trying this, but the nerves as to whether it would work or not had him more jumpy.

What Jack forgot was sort of at the back of his mind. If it truly worked, it wouldn't matter who remembered what because the thing would be gone.

Remembering the last trip, he made a little bit of a face, not necessarily looking forward to the world shifting so much again, but it was worth it. "I'm ready when you are..."

[ooc: Writing seriously is challenging, as I am having fits of GLEE that I have photo op with Klaus's actor, wearing one of Rebekah's costumes. LOL And am eyeing a John Barrowman photo op to do in my Rose costume...>.>]
