Elijah had spent the night in his study, in front of the fire, the ring anodized stake in his hands. Rebekah and Kol both wandered in a few times, his sister more openly fretful than his brother, but both of them clearly uncomfortable and uncertain

He was concerned, he was still not sure how he felt about doing something this irreversable. It wasn't his decision, though. It was Elijah's, and he trusted Elijah to know what Elijah needed to do. So, not 'are you sure', just 'are you ready'.

None of them would feel safe until it was truly gone.
"Absolutely," he said with a nod.

Elijah should, and likely did know that from his last hop to the distant future. This was a bit further out, but shouldn't be hugely worse. Still worth, Jack figured, a reminder.
He ran through a mental checklist while he did it, making sure he had coordinates preset to get them back, after the hop up to watch the world burn, that retcon was there, that he had covered his bases in what he needed to forget.

What Jack forgot was sort of at the back of his mind. If it truly worked, it wouldn't matter who remembered what because the thing would be gone.
Remembering the last trip, he made a little bit of a face, not necessarily looking forward to the world shifting so much again, but it was worth it. "I'm ready when you are..."
[ooc: Writing seriously is challenging, as I am having fits of GLEE that I have photo op with Klaus's actor, wearing one of Rebekah's costumes. LOL And am eyeing a John Barrowman photo op to do in my Rose costume...>.>]

Jack had to do some reaching around to get to his vortex manipulator, but it was something he'd had quite a lot of practice with, lately. He closed his eyes, tightened his hand on Elijah's and pushed the button.
They reappeared about ten feet from the edge of a steep cliff, overlooking a roiling, restless, nearly violent ocean. The light was different, this time: orange, too bright, and the sun was way, way too low in the sky. It was also hot as hell, nearly to the very limit of bearable, even for Jack. This was not somewhere anyone was going to stay long.
As close to the edge as it was possible for them to be.

And when Elijah held that stake out to him, Jack looked startled. He was startled. This wasn't part of the plan he'd anticipated, and he wasn't sure he was comfortable with it, either. Getting this over with quickly, and them out of there, was still more important to him than asking questions he could get answers to, later.
He took the stake from Elijah, without paying much attention to it, beyond getting its heft and feeling the weight of it. Then he walked it to the edge of the cliff and hurled it, as hard and far as he could over the edge and into the dangerous, foaming, unstable sea.
"We need to get you out of here, Elijah."

He only took a breath again when Jack threw the stake and turned back to him. After that, he nodded a little, moving back to Jack's side and taking his hand. "I think that would be a good idea." His protection was never meant to stand up to this kind of pounding from the sun, and it was just increasing the nausea.

He closed his fingers tightly around Elijah's, and triggered the transport again. This time it was a shorter hop, and when they appeared it was much cooler. There was a faint hum of an engine beneath their feet, a single sofa in the center, facing a view screen, where earth was on display.
"Breathe," he murmured, to Elijah. "And take your time."

Ducking his head, he rested it in his hands, propped on his knees, not even glancing at the view, yet. And he tried to breathe.
"Thank you..."
Reply
"Just keep breathing. Is there anything you need? What can I do to help?"

Jack had asked, and he'd promised, given his word that he'd let him know. "Blood. Not a lot, but it would help..." As sick as he felt, it wasn't even appealing, but it would speed up his body's trying to heal from the poison of the sun in his system, the radiation or whatever caused it, that had snuck past his ring.

"Take what you need." No hesitation, no doubt, and he didn't need the reassurance of amounts. Elijah was keeping a promise, and so was Jack. More than that, though, Elijah was struggling and if blood helped? It was his.

The heat under his skin eased as he drank, and the spinning of his head ceasing. When he felt more steady, he lifted his head, leaning back against the sofa and Jack's arm. "Thank you..." Again.

When Elijah sat back, Jack leaned back, tilted a little to face him. "You don't need to thank me, but you're welcome. It was beautiful. So is that." He nodded toward the view. Gently redirecting Elijah's attention.

The nod toward the window got his attention though, finally, and he looked out, eyes widening a little bit. "....It is." He'd never expected to see the Earth from this view, not really, and it was stunning. All the pictures taken by astronauts and satellites did not even begin to do it justice. Wonder flickered over his face, and he got up slowly to move to stare down at it.
"It doesn't seem possible it could...go away." Not after millions--billions--of years.
