IT IS A MASTERPIECE WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT

actually this was the first movie EVER that I have seen with my mother where she was actually quiet the whole time. THE ENTIRE THREE HOURS. so maybe that is why.

AVATAR: KEEPS YOUR MOM'S YAP SHUT

wow...so I'm the only person in this group who absolutely LOVED this movie and can't wait for it to be out on blu-ray so I can play it non-stop? *looks around* Hrm...Please don't kill me with sticks...

Actually visually I liked it on some level, I just found the plot to be a big series of cliches. Admittedly some of them were WELL-EXECUTED cliches (others not so much), and I can appreciate that clearly a LOT of work went into the film. But in the end I think the film took very complicated issues and painted them strictly in black and white -- a very ~Hollywood~ thing to do. So for a film that was touted as pushing the envelope in almost every way, I was left wanting. :/ If it had been marketed as a summer blockbuster fluff film, I probably would feel differently.

i WOULD rather watch Avatar than Titanic, however, so at least there's that. :V

Ahh, see, I think that's why I've loved the movie so much where some have not: I hadn't heard ANY of the hype. At all. Period. My hubby just said "you will like this movie" and "blue cat people" and I was there. Having no expectations set beforehand, I was free to enjoy the movie itself and what it had to offer.

HAHAHAHAHA i too was pissed at that word, so i actually LOOKED IT UP... and apparently it's a legit term used in engineering.

STILL SOUNDS DUMB THOUGH :/ :/ :/

i think they mean it more like a filler word... like "through the liberal application of [insert wishful thinking material here], man can develop the ability to fly." i don't think you're supposed to use it as an ACTUAL NAME for something SPECIFIC.
