To say that settling in to Mandalus was going to take some time was something of an understatement. Being alone without any of the girls or her friends left her feeling just as she had before she and her parents had moved before. At least she had Chypre though and having her fairy friend was enough to keep her spirits up enough to encourage her to venture out for a while. Chypre was sound asleep on her bed when Tsubomi realized she was spending too much time staring wistfully out the window. So, after patting the slumbering fairy on the head affectionately, Tsubomi made sure to leave a little note for her before leaving the room as quietly as she could, locking the door behind her ( ... )

Being without friends or those he knew and trusted was nothing new to the amateur musician, and in fact... it is what this particular song is about, despite how cheerful it seems once the sound is stronger. Distance and being separated from those you care about, even if you know they are alright. That all the bad things that had happened were at an end and one should be able to relax and enjoy the World they'd won such a difficult battle to save.

The song was... really meant for a feminine voice, but he tried his best to at least compliment the tune.

"...I'll believe in your smile and the bonds between us.
Never more, no matter the distance, your heart will reach me."

Oddly enough, there is a faint smile crossing his lips before he pauses in his playing. Whether it was because he noticed her presence, or because he was reflecting on the words was up for debate.

Whether or not she noticed the off-key moments was entirely up in the air. By the look on her face she didn't seem to have noticed. With her eyes closed and her hands held behind her back, she seemed to be letting herself get lost in the melody. There was a level of emotion to the song that left a lasting impression on her. It was something so sad yet so beautiful that she was afraid that if she even spoke one word or moved even an inch, it would ruin all of it.

When he stopped it took her a moment to bring herself back to the present. And when she had she couldn't help speaking up, even if her voice was a little on the soft side.

"... Did you write that?"

Yu blinked, glancing up when he heard a soft voice coming from behind him. Now it was obvious; he hadn't realized he had an audience. Though the smile when he turned to face the source all the while shaking his head might have said something about it.

"Not really," he admitted, a little sheepish. True, he translated it so it would be easier to understand even with what they'd been given from the start so that they could understand one another. It didn't exactly help with inflections and what some words meant, though. "But I did find it a bit strange, the first time I heard it."

Helen had taken to exploring the city. While she was mainly based out of the Old Town district, she did visit the others quite frequently. Setting up connections, attempting to find some allies in the crazy world she found herself in. She catches the sound of the tune before she does the singing, turning around the corner of the park to find Yu sitting there playing. A fair amount of distance is kept between her and Yu, not wanting to interrupt his playing. Instead she folds her hands together and simply watches on with a fond smile on her face. While the tuning might be far from perfect, the emotion is there. That is sometimes more important than actually getting the tune right.

Truth be told, it had been a while since he played anything other than the trumpet. Between the investigation, sudden social life and school clubs, he hadn't had much time to practice back home or in Aliunde. The former because he didn't have room in his budget to actually purchase one. Yu pauses in his playing, tightening a few of the strings before testing it again...

This time, the tune is a new one. Apparently the first was only a warm up. The tuning is definitely better, at least.

At sunrise, open your eyes take a good look outside and wonder, "Is this right?"
Because deep down inside there's something that's left to discover.
Is your grand design hand-woven or divine?

It's almost odd, how isolated he seems yet what he's playing is filled by a sense of peace and a ray of hope.

The guitar was far from her forte. Her musical expertise was in the piano. Not from having a lack of time to master others, but, the piano expressed who she was perfectly. Not to mention it was always viewed as an old world instrument, which Helen was very much still "old world."

Reaching into her wallet, Helen walked up to Yu and held a bill out to Yu. She was certain he wasn't doing this for money, as usually music was a way of expressing feelings. Despite that, she believed that he should receive recognition for the tunes. The music isn't perfect, but evoking emotions was always far more important than perfection.

Which was all well and fine, because he kind of liked the piano. Only it... just wasn't for him. Brass and strings, on the other hand, were definitely something he could play. Guitar was one of them, trumpet was the other-

Yu blinked, hearing the footsteps before seeing who it was. "...Magnus-san?" Why are you paying him, and more importantly.. how long had she been standing there listening?

Suddenly he felt a strange mixture of self-consciousness and pride.
